Welcome to your go-to source for entertainment Wait for it Gaming, wait for it Anime Plus Ultra, mr Eric Almighty and Phil the Filipino yeah, they've got you covered and all you gotta do is Wait for it. Welcome back to the Wait for it podcast. I'm one of your co-hosts, mr Eric Almighty, and for today's episode I'm going to highlight a recent obsession to a series from a franchise that I never imagined I would be itching to see more of, so I'm going to go over the plot, the characters, the animation and anything else that I can fit in to convince you why you should be watching Mobile Suit Gundam, the Witch from Mercury in less than 10 minutes Now. I heard a ton of praise and hype around this show, but I always brushed it off because I never really gotten a Gundam, unless you were really into anime. Casual viewers seem to fall into categories of watching Dragon Ball Z, naruto, bleach, one Piece or even Gundam, but by the end of the prologue in episode one, I felt right at home with what was to come, and it seems the comments from many in the Gundam community are true. This may be a perfect gateway to get your feet wet with this massive franchise. The IMDb synopsis for this anime reads In an era when a multitude of corporations have entered space and built a huge economic system. Sulleta Mercury, from the remote planet Mercury transfers to the Ostecacia School of Technology run by the Bitter Group, which dominates the Mobile Suit industry. Sulleta is our primary main character and she has an infectious demeanor, a true ray of hope, driven by her relationship with her mother and the lessons that have been instilled into her from a young age. As with any main protagonist in anime going to school, it's not the easiest to make friends with people, especially when you're an outsider tagged with the nickname Witch from Mercury. But that quickly changes after fighting in a duel for the hand of Miorina Rembrandt, the estranged daughter of the president for the Beneric Group. It's the back and forth dynamic between these two characters and the complete difference in personalities that really help drive some interest in their growth together throughout the series. Suleida is timid in social settings but more than capable in a fight where Miorina is headstrong with her peers but inexperienced in the blazes of battle. There are many side characters in this show, but at the end of the day it's these two main protagonists that will really impact your viewing experience the most. The mobile suit or Gundam, for this show is called Aerial, who is somewhat of a character herself but serves perfectly as a segue to discuss the animation for this show. When it comes to its world and its characters, the animation is really good, but when it comes to Aerial and the duels with other mobile suits, I was thoroughly impressed. If you just YouTube Suleida's first duel from this show, it's obsessively good. Studio Sunrise has done a lot with Gundam over the years, from what I could tell, and the only project I believe I've seen of theirs was Cowboy Bebop. So this is really my most modern experience with them so far and it was a pleasure to look at. The great animation is backed up by an amazing OST by composer Takashi Omama, whose work is not one that I've been familiar with before, but I'd be shocked to not hear more of this person in the future because it was one of the core elements that truly enhanced this show. It also has great opening and ending songs from catchy season one OPs, like the Blessing from Yoasobi, who, by the way, just continues to kill it with anime openings To season two's more somber opening slash by Yama and the season two ballad ending Red Birthmark by Aina the End, the music for this show has been one of the strongest and most memorable soundtracks that I can remember, at least in the last five years. And then, the cherry on top, there's a very good English dub to boot. So, whether you're gonna watch this in sub or dub, you are in for a very, very good time. If you run, you gain one, but if you move forward, you gain two. It's this very powerful way of thinking that not only motivates our main hero in this anime, but it's also extremely contagious to the audience as well. The duels and the battles are well executed. The soundtrack is insanely intoxicating, and, while I can admit that the first half is stronger than the second, mobile Suit Gundam, the Witch from Mercury, is not only a great anime recommendation from me, but if you are ever gonna make the jump to watch something from this everlasting franchise, from one person who hasn't ever watched a Gundam show before to another, this is the obvious leaping point to do so.
