PLUS ULTRA.
Speaker 1:
0:11
Mr Eric Almighty and Phil the Filipino. Yeah, they've got you covered, and all you gotta do is wait for it.
Speaker 3:
0:31
This is the Wait For it Podcast. Hey, everyone, welcome back to the Wait For it Podcast. I am your co-host, phil Barrera, aka Phil the Filipino.
Speaker 4:
0:40
I'm your other co-host, mr Eric Almighty, and for this edition of what Did I Miss, we had to fill the second part of the equation. First we did the co-hosts Now the actual hosts of some of our favorite podcasts within the Super Bracket Bros cinematic universe and Phil. This is long overdue. Very excited to get into this one.
Speaker 3:
1:02
Yeah, it was only right that we brought in the other halves of the respective shows that were represented a couple of months back, and it was a whole lot of fun. This episode I expect to be a tight 45 minutes. Nobody has any type of flashy story or anything, no game or anything like that. We're actually just going to exchange stock tips and be on our way. I don't know what do adults do? I don't fucking know what do adults talk about? Apr, I don't know Insurance loans, I don't know. I'm just throwing out the most adult words that I possibly can.
Speaker 1:
1:35
Deductible.
Speaker 3:
1:36
Deductible. Yeah, actually, roth IRA. There we go.
Speaker 5:
1:42
Jay Bank.
Speaker 3:
1:45
Pasta Jonathan, Jonathan, yeah.
Speaker 5:
1:53
Bank.
Speaker 3:
1:54
Bank. All right, cool. Well, maybe we're actually off to an even more chaotic start than we were a couple months ago. We'll see how it goes. But, Eric, again very excited to have our guests, so let's just kind of go in order. We'll see how everybody's doing. Emily, game of Growns, how are you doing here tonight? Good to have you here and thanks for coming back on. What did I miss?
Speaker 2:
2:15
Oh, yeah, of course. Thanks for asking. I know Kate had a really great time and, yeah, it's only a matter of time until you get everyone that doesn't. That normally does all the work together and they don't have to do the work, so this is even better.
Speaker 3:
2:30
You have a lot to live up to. Kate cleaned house in Kahoot a couple months ago.
Speaker 2:
2:35
She is my older sister. I don't know if that counts or not, so you will be defending the Game of Thrones crown.
Speaker 3:
2:40
when it comes to Kahoot, Eric, I just thought of this Eventually, because you have to keep changing the artwork for this episode. All six, all six people as guests, for what Did I Miss? We're going to throw that out there eventually so we'll see how that goes.
Speaker 4:
2:55
Please don't dude. I just like I have like three. I rebranded the what Did I Miss thing on Canva and I was like, well, we never have more than four, so I'm going to go with a four-person layout and then, figure it out from there. Now I have like four different layouts for this episode. You never know when we can't get guests, when we only have one person, when we get two, and then now we have three guests, we cannot do a fourth. I will quit. You never know, I will quit.
Speaker 3:
3:22
I will quit Everybody from the Super Bracket Bros Cinematic Universe, every voice actor from Dear Fred and Okatan. We got groups of people to throw in.
Speaker 4:
3:31
Okay, that's fine, we could do that. It's just going to be live streamed and never promoted. Everybody from.
Speaker 3:
3:36
GAM will figure it out. Andrew, friendly neighborhood gamers, how are you doing here tonight? And thanks again for being here once again on what Did I Miss.
Speaker 1:
3:43
Hey, thanks for having me. I'm doing fantastic. I was just thinking if you had everybody from the Super Bracket Bros cinematic universe, it would be kind of like when you plan a Lord of the Rings marathon with your friends and you have to book out the whole day. That would be that recording session. It would have to be the entire day and by hour three I don't think I would have much humor left in me, or stories I can't even imagine.
Speaker 3:
4:11
Maybe I think each team would have to present a story together. I think that's probably how we would have to do it. So maybe just in a really, really busy month, who knows? Jay Davis, super Ragnarok Bros are the. What are you to the Super R Bracket Bros Cinematic Universe? Are you the Tony Stark or are you the Cap? Who is Jay in the Super Bracket Bros Cinematic Universe? Who do you play?
Speaker 5:
4:35
Wow, this is quite the question to start off with.
Speaker 3:
4:39
Also, how are you doing all that shit? Oh yeah, all that bullshit, yeah.
Speaker 5:
4:44
I guess I'm fine. I guess you know, being invited two months after my co-host, I'm not offended at all, by the way, of course. Um, I guess I mean probably nick fury, I like. I mean I like the okay sewing together of our shows, you know, in weird and in interesting ways, and then like conniving and fooling you all into working together. You know I love that.
Speaker 4:
5:08
So that is surprisingly accurate, well, if you kind of think about it.
Speaker 3:
5:13
So jay, jay is like who first between andrew and jay who reached out?
Speaker 4:
5:18
no, well, here's the thing. Jay is so important to the whole universe, but he also disappears for a long period of time and nobody can find him, so it's like perfect it really does work out.
Speaker 5:
5:29
Yeah, no, and and another history lesson. This, I'm sure has been stated many times on various podcasts, but I was the one that saw Andrew's nerdy video game t-shirts from across the room back in pod fest 2020 he can see over everybody else Exactly. He had the vantage point. So I made the first call out for my first superhero there, so I guess Andrew is Robert Downey Jr, you're?
Speaker 3:
6:01
right.
Speaker 1:
6:01
Alright, dr Doom.
Speaker 5:
6:06
How far?
Speaker 3:
6:06
we've come, that's why you didn't see me actually is because I was way too low to the ground and you were just looking straight ahead and I probably walked right underneath you and didn't notice. You know how, in the lost world where the motorcycles are driving through the dreadnoughts, like that was from. Yeah, exactly yeah.
Speaker 5:
6:25
Yeah, we need to go back, find the security footage, and then there's just going to be Phil riding a motorcycle Through this hotel in Orlando, florida.
Speaker 3:
6:36
Oh, there he was. That's crazy. So anyway, I'm very happy to have everybody here. For anyone that's listening to this episode for the first time, what did I miss is a very, very casual just hang out with our friends and we talk about any pop culture stories that you may have missed from the previous month. Full caveat we are recording this on the 24th, so there is a possibility that something comes out and something happens within the next few days, because this episode will release on Monday, the 28th. So who knows? Like I told our guest last time this happened where we recorded a little bit earlier Robert Downey Jr surprised everybody at San Diego Comic-Con. So maybe this is a way for us to manifest something really cool and if that happens, you're welcome. Well, I mean the Robert Downey Jr.
Speaker 1:
7:18
I was going to say are you saying that Robert Downey Jr was really cool?
Speaker 3:
7:22
Some people were excited. Let that Robert Downey.
Speaker 1:
7:24
Jr was really cool. That is it. Some people were excited. Let's revisit that. It's current news. Let's talk about that.
Speaker 3:
7:27
Yeah, actually, let's just rewind a couple months and talk about that. But this is also for the first part of the episode. For the audio-only listeners, that's totally fine. We do play a game at the end and it is suggested you watch over on our YouTube page if you'd like to follow along. But again, totally up to you. I will do my best to visualize the questions. But, eric, anything we need to go over with our guests before the most important part of the episode that everyone was super excited about and did not want to change minutes before we started recording.
Speaker 4:
8:00
Now here's the question. Now here's the question. If we did a, like a die, how would that work?
Speaker 3:
8:07
because I mean, I am open to the idea open to changing things, but not don't tell me to do it right before the episode begins.
Speaker 1:
8:14
I mean, I could die just be like a d10 with a d10, two people per side.
Speaker 3:
8:19
I don't know what that means I got my ass kicked in GURPS, so I do. You know what a dice is? No, whenever I see a dice table.
Speaker 2:
8:23
That means I got my ass kicked in GURPS, so I have no idea what that means. Do you know what a dice is?
Speaker 3:
8:25
No, Whenever I see a dice table at a convention, I walk right on by A D10, what?
Speaker 4:
8:29
and everybody gets assigned a number.
Speaker 3:
8:31
No.
Speaker 4:
8:32
Everybody gets assigned two numbers, right, is that?
Speaker 3:
8:34
how that works. Yes, did I do math.
Speaker 4:
8:36
All right, Phil, I'm going to take over from here.
Speaker 3:
8:39
Okay, cool, yeah, I got this.
Speaker 4:
8:41
I got this Okay cool. So the wheel is what we normally do. You got a little glimpse of it, but if we could find the three people who hate the wheel the most, they would be on this episode, and because of that I think it'd be kind of funny.
Speaker 3:
9:01
Yeah, I mean, it's a Google wheel, like it's not anything special, it's right here. Okay, so how do you assign numbers to somebody? Is that how?
Speaker 4:
9:05
this is gonna work out right here. Yeah, yeah, so uh took teratoma.
Speaker 3:
9:09
By the way, I'm totally distracted by the nfl draft. Right now. We're also recording the nfl draft, so I will give our audience updates. That'll be four days please don't.
Speaker 2:
9:16
Why are we here?
Speaker 3:
9:19
this episode comes out no, please don't, okay.
Speaker 4:
9:21
Well, this is the best I can do. Yeah, this will work. So for this we are going to use the die and I'll just go based off of what I see on my screen, because it's already randomized. So Emily is going to be one and two.
Speaker 1:
9:34
Wasn't a ten, a one and a zero.
Speaker 4:
9:37
Is there a zero in here?
Speaker 1:
9:39
No, hello.
Speaker 4:
9:41
Do we need a?
Speaker 1:
9:41
ten-sided dice or an eight-sided dice.
Speaker 3:
9:43
No, it's a ten-sided die there's five people, so shouldn't it be ten?
Speaker 5:
9:49
Yes.
Speaker 3:
9:50
Eric had eight up, so he was going to not include himself.
Speaker 2:
9:52
No I had ten up. It's eight on the die.
Speaker 5:
9:56
Phil, leave the dice to the professionals please, that's true, thank you.
Speaker 4:
10:02
Okay, so Emily is one and two. I will be 3 and 4. Phil will be 5 and 6. Andrew will be 7 and 8. Jay will be 9 and 10. Okay, and then we'll reduce the die as we go forward. So then, the next time when someone's already gone, we'll go to the 8, then we'll go to the 6, we go forward. The next time when someone's already gone, we'll go to the eight, then we'll go to the six, the four. I can do math Rolling. We're going to figure this out.
Speaker 1:
10:33
The wheel might be simpler. It might be but you guys asked for this.
Speaker 4:
10:41
How are we doing this now? Are we going to do a drum roll?
Speaker 3:
10:44
Oh yeah, what the hell is this? Oh, I've got one. Hold on Ready.
Speaker 4:
10:47
Here we go. Yeah, let's three, two, one Roll. That die. I love that. I don't like that, okay.
Speaker 5:
10:53
What would you?
Speaker 4:
10:54
guys prefer the drum roll.
Speaker 2:
10:56
I don't want to do a drum roll.
Speaker 5:
10:57
No, I can Roll that die.
Speaker 1:
11:01
Roll that die.
Speaker 4:
11:05
I love that. Okay, that's what we're going to do.
Speaker 5:
11:09
We're going to do the drum roll. Drum roll into roll that die.
Speaker 1:
11:11
Roll that die. Are you guys ready? This is the Patreon part. Right? This is the pre-show. Nope.
Speaker 4:
11:15
We're here. I pulled up the soundboard that we haven't used since the end of year awards. That was in December.
Speaker 3:
11:21
Yeah, will. Awards that was in December. Will you just actually play somebody's end of year awards submission?
Speaker 4:
11:25
I could do that. Would you guys like to hear about Andrew's artist of the year?
Speaker 1:
11:30
The second category that I would like to hear about would be artist of the year.
Speaker 3:
11:38
Okay, I only clear it out at the end of the year. We only use it for that episode, alright I love it.
Speaker 4:
11:43
Let's the end of the year. We only use it for that episode. All right, I love it. Let's change up the formula completely. When you hear the drum roll end, we're going to say roll that, die. Are you guys ready?
Speaker 5:
11:55
Yes.
Speaker 4:
11:56
All right Ready.
Speaker 2:
12:03
Roll that die.
Speaker 4:
12:09
Is it rolling? I clicked it off.
Speaker 5:
12:10
Nine, that's me well, I just want to say thank you to everyone who believed in me for leading this revolution of defeating the wheel, and it's been an honor. I'm so, so happy. Um, now onto my first story. Uh, you guys, probably this is like not a very well-known story, but you might have heard that the vice president of the united States assassinated the Pope this month.
Speaker 3:
12:51
This was fact-checked. Why are you doing this? I think it's.
Speaker 1:
12:55
Where are you going with this? The people need to know. Hey Grok, did that happen?
Speaker 5:
13:01
No, I actually wasn't going to make the joke, but then I was on such a high from having one that died first. So, no, my real story is actually probably something that no one has heard of besides maybe Emily. Actually, I think Emily probably is aware of this, but I'm a recent subscriber to a new kid on the. It's been around for a few years now but it's new to me.
Speaker 5:
13:25
Dropout TV is a fantastic streaming service. It's sort of this amalgamation of comedians that come together, do various shows. It's sort of like a. If you have no frame of reference, you've never heard of Dropout TV. Think about like whose line is it anyway? But like times a hundred. You know they have a ton of different shows, a ton of different styles in which they compete. Compete against each other competes a very strong word for dropout tv um, but it's a wonderful streaming service, um, that is led by awesome people. The number one person is sam reich, who has kind of become this person that I really admire for how he does business and how he talks about things and how he leads his company.
Speaker 5:
14:13
But specifically this month they fell victim to something that a lot of streaming services have fallen victim to recently and that's having to increase their prices, but they went from an astounding $5.99 to $6.99. And I just want to give them a shout out for being an incredibly affordable streaming service and in a time where they're creating something that's worth, in my opinion, much more than $6.99 a month. They haven't raised their prices for several years this is, you know, since 2022, I think this and I mean with how much the cost of everything has gone up. It's pretty amazing that they've held off for as long as they have, and so this was amongst all of the things that I could have picked this month.
Speaker 5:
15:04
That didn't feel good. The politics of the world are sort of bearing down on my head, especially as it invades entertainment with tariffs and things like that. You have board game companies closing, but Dropout TV is true. It's so much fun, I love it so much and I just want as many people to support as I can. So I wanted to use this platform to shout them out, but unfortunately, they did have to increase their prices, but I mean in the least price gouging way possible. You know, very honest, very transparent through the whole process. So that's my story of the month.
Speaker 2:
15:42
In addition to that, they actually only raised it for new subscribers. Yes, Everyone who was previously subscribed, stays at the $5.99. And it was like a cutoff point until and so they were telling people hey, if you want to not get the higher price, sign up right now, You'll be an old subscriber and it won't increase.
Speaker 5:
16:00
Yeah, no, just all around super consumer friendly, and thanks for that. That totally escaped my brain. So Dropout TV made a little bit of news this month and that was what I wanted to bring to the table.
Speaker 3:
16:14
Hell yeah, I love that. I have not checked out personally Dropout TV, but I have seen, of course, game Changer over on social media and Smarty Pants which is like, because I love PowerPoint parties, like this was made for me, so I very much love that. But yeah, sam, I see a lot of clips as well, of just kind of like behind the scenes stuff of how he operates that show.
Speaker 3:
16:43
And it's just like you can tell so much love and care goes into it. And when you're talking about improv, specifically to give all of those people a um, a platform is awesome and when I know like improv is is kind of look in terms of like in the comedy world sometimes can be kind of looked as like the redheaded stepchild, but like it is so much fun when it's done correctly and when it's done with the right people. So really really love this and y'all have to look into this.
Speaker 1:
17:19
Andrew, what was your knowledge, if any, about Dropout? I just learned that they raise their price if you're a new subscriber.
Speaker 3:
17:26
I've never heard of this before at all, so I one of the people that jay is trying to spread the word to, we'll have to find some good clips and send them your way, because they are, uh, especially a game changer when it's on like it is so good. So, uh, eric, what about you? I know I've definitely sent you Game Changer clips, for sure.
Speaker 4:
17:44
No, game Changer clips are always on my TikTok for sure. So I did not know that this was a thing, like I didn't know it was a subscription service, and I mean at that price, I mean that's not a lot in the grand scheme of things, when you consider Netflix and how much they increase all the time. I love the incentive for existing subscribers. I think that is really really smart. I think more companies should do that, like reward the people that are sticking around and not punishing them. You're going to make enough money with the price increase on your new subscribers. Don't lose your existing base, and I think for what I'm imagining dropout is, in the grand scheme of things, they probably can't afford to lose a whole bunch of existing subscribers to jack their prices up, and a dollar is not really jacking it up, but the way that people feel these days, you know that could really be looked at that way. So I think, out of anything, I just really appreciate that approach because we don't see that almost anywhere else.
Speaker 3:
18:50
Also, Brennan is the other one I see on my real life. Eric, all of the Batman episodes are on here.
Speaker 4:
18:59
Okay, well, we might have to. It was everyone from College. Humor, basically.
Speaker 2:
19:04
Yeah.
Speaker 3:
19:05
I was just going to say is there a lot of college humor stuff?
Speaker 4:
19:07
okay, yes, absolutely yeah, I think, like again, it's going to start coming down to pricing when it comes to what streaming services you want to keep. So if people are looking for content at a decent price, this is a great place to be. I mean, phil, what is Apple Plus at? Isn't it like $10?
Speaker 3:
19:30
It's definitely gone up. It used to be one of the best priced, but it is no longer that.
Speaker 4:
19:36
Yeah, it's definitely not one of the best, but it's still pretty decent Compared to what I pay for Netflix and never use it.
Speaker 3:
19:42
It's still pretty good, but I think I might pay. I'm getting up there what I pay for Netflix and never use it. It's still pretty good, but I think I I might pay. Yeah, I'm getting up there with Apple TV. It's probably close to probably 15, $20 now, so, and it wasn't that when it started out.
Speaker 4:
19:52
So I could have sworn it was 10, but yeah, no, I mean again. I just wonder what it's going to be in the grand scheme of things, as far as versus the price and when you've got a company like Netflix. Netflix is the big criminal here in my opinion, but Apple has always been the one that stood out to me. Out of all of them. That has been, at least for the quality that you get been the best priced.
Speaker 3:
20:15
Emily, what other? Do you have any other suggestions other than the ones that people have probably seen on social media like Game Changer and Smarty Pants? Any of these other ones that you suggest people check out? Media like Game Changer and?
Speaker 2:
20:25
Smarty Pants, any of these other ones that you suggest people check out. Not really for you, mr I-don't-know-what-a-dice-is, but they have Dimension 20, which has, I would say, revolutionized live, play D&D, and they have probably at least 20 campaigns out there, all of different genres and characters and improvisational artists and everything that. And Brendan Lee Gulligan, along with other GMs, is a great storyteller. So, excuse me. So there's that, gosh. Another one they just did one about food called Gastronauts. About food called Gastronauts, and it's where they take professional chefs and three comedians give them insane tasks like make me a thing that, oh Brennan's was like make me the biggest meal ever, like just like the biggest thing you can make. That tasted good. Or one of them was like I want to eat it like out of a cone or something. It's just like. And these chefs have to do it. You know, because they're in this competition, and then you know, at the end there's a winner.
Speaker 5:
21:31
Yeah, what finally broke the straw, that broke the camel's back for me was seeing the clips of the recent season of Game Changer and seeing the one year later episode that Jacob Wysocki and Vic and Lou had to do. They were given tasks that they had to complete over the course of an entire year and come back and present the results in an entirely different episode to just incredible results. It was overwhelming. Instagram, youtube shorts everywhere I get bits of my reels and TikTok adjacent things, um, and so I I had to. I was like I've seen most of the episode. At this point, um, I just need to support these people and and yeah, it's wonderful, it's wonderful.
Speaker 3:
22:20
Yeah, and the good part of social media too. As someone you know who, who did stand up for a long time, uh, just to be able to put people really, really talented, really funny people out in front in a streaming service is awesome. So I see a lot of these people. I'll see them on Game Changer and then I'll see their stand up clip later and then that's a gateway to get somebody into their show wherever they tour. So, because comics are constantly touring. So if you see somebody on there that you think is funny, chances are, uh, they've got some other channel, they've got a youtube channel, they've got something. They do stand up. So look them up and you know you might be able to see them, uh, in person for sure. So, yeah, I love that story, jay. What great, great way to start. Uh, start out. What did I miss, eric? You want to bring back in this chaos you've created?
Speaker 4:
23:06
I did not create it. I did not create it, so now you say it like we don't already have a plan. Oh God, we already have a plan. What happens now?
Speaker 4:
23:15
No so we use a 10-sided die because we had five people. Now we have four people. So we're going to use the eight-sided die and we are just going to keep the numbers. We're just gonna keep the numbers a hundred percent. Emily's one, two, I'm three, four, you're five, six and you're seven, eight. All right, drum roll and then roll that die, let's go. I already forgot about the drum.
Speaker 5:
23:40
you don't have to do the drum roll, I have to.
Speaker 4:
23:45
Roll that Die. Look at that. All right Throwing the eight out there. Four. That's me, yep Me, no, you have to say it confidently.
Speaker 5:
23:58
Don't show weakness in front of Phil.
Speaker 4:
24:00
That's right, All right guys. So it's actually funny. This was a story I was considering bringing up because I think it's both extremely intriguing and also ridiculous, and the fact that we have Emily here is perfect from Game of Thrones Because, if you didn't know, Time magazine had announced the return of the dire wolf. I did not know, number one, that a dire wolf was even real, so I was very confused. But upon reading the Time article, this is in fact true.
Speaker 4:
24:33
Romulus and Remus are doing what puppies do chasing, tussling, nipping, nuzzling but there's something very un-puppy-like about the snowy, white six-month-olds their size, for starters, they're already measuring about four feet long, tipping the scales at 80 pounds, and they can grow up to six feet and 150 pounds. With these two particular dire wolves they had roamed an American range that extended as far south as Venezuela and as north as Canada, but they've been pretty much extinct for the last 10,000 years. So they've been brought back, and this is all in an effort from a company called Colossal Biosciences that is essentially trying to de-extinct certain animals while also preventing the extinction of animals today. So some of the animals that they're considering bringing back on their wishlist is a woolly mammoth and the dodo bird, also a Tasmanian tiger. So these are all things that are now apparently within reach, with this dire wolf being brought back. And again, I think it's interesting because the whole point that they're doing this for the one of the reasons that they're saying they're doing this is they can also, in their research, prevent the extinction of animals that are near extinction today.
Speaker 4:
26:01
That sounds great, but all I can think of is Jurassic Park, right, Like it feels like we're getting closer to a reality where that movie is not so much fictional. And I'm very curious because we've got a big Jurassic Park fan. The dire wolf itself with Emily and then just all of us in general I think would bring an interesting perspective to this because for real this is like a really cool and awesome achievement for like mankind, but also maybe the start of our extinction. So I'm just curious. You know, just to switch gears, what we're thinking. Phil, I will throw it to you first as the resident Jurassic Park fan.
Speaker 3:
26:46
Yeah, well, we also have Jay here as well, so both of us can very confidently speak about this topic. No, it is very cool, although I will say, as far as, like the woolly mammoth I watched that woolly mammoth documentary in middle school that they were trying to clone the one they found in ice years ago and that never happened. So the fact that this did happen is cool, and I didn't even think about the idea of it helping preserve animals that are on the verge of extinction now. So, yeah, it is really neat. You know you do risk, you know, running down a slippery slope. As much as I would love for it to happen, no, dinosaurs are not coming back, unfortunately. As much as I would love for it to happen. No, dinosaurs are not coming back, unfortunately.
Speaker 3:
27:29
But stuff like this the dodo, tasmanian tiger, stuff like that, you know, animals like that we could maybe see, like, if this continues to, you know, evolve as far as the science and the technology, I think it'd be really, really cool. I'm just anxious to see how large these wolves can get once they are fully grown and what happens next. So the science behind it is really, really cool. But yeah, you know it does. I think some people think it does open up like kind of a morality thing, but also like a lot of these things are gone because we suck. So I think it's really cool and I'd go to like some kind of these things are gone because we suck, so I think it's really cool and I'd go to. I'd go to like some kind of zoo with just extinct animals. That'd be great yeah.
Speaker 4:
28:10
And Emily, what about you? How are your feelings? You got very excited when I brought up the story, so you must've heard of it.
Speaker 2:
28:17
You stole my story.
Speaker 4:
28:19
Oh no, oh sorry. I should have also known that you would have the dire wolf story.
Speaker 2:
28:24
Oh my, God, this is your chance. No, it's fine. I will add on to this because I read the Hollywood Reporter article about it and it was very in-depth and it taught me a lot that I did not know. Number one the picture on the Iron Throne. Did you guys?
Speaker 3:
28:49
know, peter Jackson purchased the Iron.
Speaker 2:
28:50
Throne that they used in Game of Thrones. That's insane to me. I didn't know that, but it tracks. I was just going to say that makes sense. It does. But I was just like, wait, they're not still using it. He just took it. Okay, they're still making shit. He loans it out to them now.
Speaker 2:
28:59
He might. Who can say but yeah, this whole, and it goes really into the company of Colossal Biosciences, which is run by a tech entrepreneur and a Harvard geneticist, but their funding is the Hemsworth brothers, paris Hilton, seth Green, joe Manganiello Like these are celebrity funders, in addition to other people. It's only it's only a four-year-old company and it's just getting really like, the more that I read about it, it just feels really like a PR stunt, cause they there's a quote from one of the guys that says Colossal is the perfect fusion of art, science and magic, and I'm like like what the fuck are you on that? Like I'm sorry, this is bullshit. I I was really excited when I first heard about it, um, but now I'm really kind of concerned, um, and also as far as like the other animals, they said they didn't clone it. They mapped the genome from a really old tooth and skull and so it's the most significant gene editing, but it's not a true clone.
Speaker 2:
30:04
So some people are like are these just designer wolves? It says. In addition, they also cloned two litters of red wolves which are close to being extinct. But yeah, I don't know. And their whole thing is this is new money in conservation. That wasn't. You know, that wasn't put out before, because all these celebrities are a part of it. But also, like it also said that they're like open, sourcing their technology so other people could use it. So I'm just, I'm really, I'm really more concerned. I was really excited about wolf puppies, but now I'm just like maybe this is really bad and we should not be doing this right now. So, yeah, I'm kind of torn, I yeah.
Speaker 4:
30:48
I don't I don't like the open sourcing. I don't want to be able to type in a chat. Gpt, how can I recreate X animal?
Speaker 3:
30:59
yeah, a J Jen didn't want to share its technology. That's the whole reason. Like bio sin was like. That's not great.
Speaker 5:
31:08
No, not great at all no.
Speaker 4:
31:12
Yeah, it's a. It's tough. I do now feel bad, Emily, that I stole your story. Do you have a backup?
Speaker 2:
31:18
I do.
Speaker 4:
31:19
Okay, I'm really glad that everyone came prepared. But yeah, that I do. Okay, I'm really glad that everyone came prepared, but yeah, that was my and Emily's story, phil.
Speaker 1:
31:32
Andrew, which animal do you want to see brought back from extinction? I mean, if they went extinct, then I guess that was just where they were supposed to go. It is what it is. Everybody. It is what it is. Yeah, everybody's worried that like uh ai is gonna take us into the like terminator future, but we're all excited about going into the jurassic park future. Like I don't, I don't know this I'd much rather die via t-rex than than a robot than robot yeah, I mean yeah, next it'll be umbrella corp.
Speaker 1:
31:59
we'll see which one like rises to the top first. I mean like eric, when I first read the headline I thought it was interesting and cool, but then I didn't go as deep as emily did with, like, her research, but it was still kind of that. There was just that underlying feeling of is this good like? And then when you started mentioning like celebrity funded and stuff like that, it was like, uh, I don't know about this. I mean, should we be? I mean Dr Frankenstein creating life Like none of these stories end well, so one of those Hemsworth brothers definitely has a dire wolf at home right now.
Speaker 3:
32:38
Right, it's definitely Chris.
Speaker 2:
32:41
It's it they joined for the Tasmanian tiger. Ah, that makes sense. They want that one, they're Australian.
Speaker 5:
32:48
Obviously yes.
Speaker 4:
32:49
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3:
32:51
Interesting.
Speaker 4:
32:52
Yeah, I mean I'd spend that type of money.
Speaker 1:
32:55
I'd spend that type of money.
Speaker 5:
32:56
I don't know, what do you want?
Speaker 4:
32:58
It'd have to be something really cool, though I'm sure there's a really cool extinct animal that would come to mind.
Speaker 1:
33:04
Eric's like chat GPT really cool. Extinct animal.
Speaker 4:
33:08
Yeah, really Cool. I believe the last time we talked we did confirm it does kill an animal when I chat GPT.
Speaker 1:
33:15
So that's unfortunate. Yeah, so one life for another Chat, gpt.
Speaker 3:
33:20
Why don't you just Google it and someone will have a list?
Speaker 4:
33:22
No, I was Googling. Google just brings up the.
Speaker 1:
33:24
AI results anyway, that's true, woolly.
Speaker 4:
33:27
Mammoth Dodo Yatai. Listen the first three on this list of top 25 most interesting are.
Speaker 3:
33:34
Woolly.
Speaker 4:
33:34
Mammoth Dodo. Tasmanian Tiger Megalodon.
Speaker 3:
33:38
Yeah, Megalodon will be dope.
Speaker 4:
33:40
It's a.
Speaker 1:
33:40
Megalodon.
Speaker 4:
33:45
Sabertooth is seven. Oh, I don't like this one All right, let's scrap this episode.
Speaker 3:
33:49
Let's tier list extinct animals actually.
Speaker 4:
33:53
No, yeah, I don't think I care this much about animals. Let's bring back like.
Speaker 5:
33:59
No, what was that? Say that again.
Speaker 4:
34:01
There's like a really big tortoise here. No, no, no.
Speaker 5:
34:05
What was that sentence? You said I don't really care about animals. Is that what you said?
Speaker 4:
34:10
Yes, I might have said that, okay, I just want to confirm this is recording right.
Speaker 5:
34:15
It is what it is, Pete is going to show up at Bold Mastery now.
Speaker 3:
34:18
Thanks a lot.
Speaker 4:
34:20
It is what it is. I Thanks a lot. It is what it is. I'm sorry, anyway, dice Dice time.
Speaker 3:
34:28
Which extinct animal could roll dice the best?
Speaker 4:
34:31
Let's move on. We are now going to move over to the six-sided die.
Speaker 3:
34:36
What's my number now? Okay, chill.
Speaker 4:
34:41
Emily's one and two, you are now three and four what? And Andrew will be five and six. So let's get ready.
Speaker 1:
34:59
That was the wrong drum. It was the right drum for the time, oh, okay.
Speaker 4:
35:05
Now it will be. Hold on, we don't have enough laughing. There we go.
Speaker 3:
35:12
We'll get more podcasts to record in front of a live studio.
Speaker 1:
35:16
So how many people listened to these episodes just out of curiosity?
Speaker 4:
35:19
They stopped right about now We've got a drumroll. Remember we were going to just do the wheel as a reminder to the audience.
Speaker 1:
35:28
Yeah, Eric is punishing Jay right now.
Speaker 4:
35:31
All three of you.
Speaker 1:
35:31
I love it.
Speaker 2:
35:32
You all asked for the wheel to be gone.
Speaker 4:
35:34
I just voted. That's true. Alright, drumroll, guys Roll. Did you guys forget step five?
Speaker 1:
35:49
it's andrew oh man, I guess I should look up a story real quick probably you also took my dire wolf story oh, I hope you guys have backups.
Speaker 4:
36:01
I really didn't think anybody was going to pick that one.
Speaker 1:
36:04
So I come from the gaming world, so most of mine are gaming related, and the biggest news story of this month was obviously the last of us getting released again Another version specifically for Phil. He's one of the only people that's probably going to buy it, so we have to we definitely have to bring that up, but no, that that's not my main story I have. I honestly thought we would talk about the switch to before it got to me, so I don't know if I want to use that story, but we got all the switch to information this month, so I suppose that would be a good story to talk about. They announced the release date for it. They announced the price. They announced that Mario Kart was going to be $80 or $90 if you want a physical version. They announced that certain games would be getting updated versions on the new Switch, like the Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are both getting updated versions, which you get for free if you pay for their online service. But then other games like Kirby and the Forgotten Lands are getting additional content and stuff, and Mario Party Jamboree is getting a whole bunch of new minigames that work with the mouse functionality and the, the joy cons and stuff like that, and so those are going to cost more money. So it was a really interesting kind of whiplash effect, I feel like across the gaming community, because we've been waiting for the switch to to be officially announced for six years I feel like I've been hearing rumors about it since 2019 at least and then they did like the switch oled, and then they did, or they did the like switch light, then they did the switch oled, and then so we're finally getting the official announcement.
Speaker 1:
37:55
It looks cool. It's bigger. The joy cons seem like they're going to be a little bit nicer. They connect in a really cool way like tech. Technologically the device looks cool, looks like a nice upgrade. I mean it the screen is not led or it's not oled, but it's really nice and it it runs at uh, like 60 frames, it's 1080p like. Overall just seems like a really nice piece of hardware. Then they start announcing the games and the things that are going to be like updated for the new version. Then they announce the like tech demo that is going to cost money and then the information directly from nintendo in their presentation ends and we start to like get this trickle of all of the stuff coming after it about the price of games, the fact that some games are just going to be digital codes on the card, like all of the kind of bad news came in after the direct itself had ended and so it was like this really weird whiplash effect to watch in real time of like peak excitement turned into kind of like peak outrage within an afternoon.
Speaker 1:
39:12
And I'm still torn about the switch too, like I didn't today, I think. Today pre-orders in america went live. I didn't try to fight for one. I don't know that I'll get one day one. I feel like the console itself is priced pretty fairly for what it is, but it's the stuff around it that is a little bit more egregious. Um, but they also announced a new from software game that's exclusive to this console. So that makes me more torn. Like I kind of have to get this console, but then it's not like a true From Software game, it's like a multiplayer extraction kind of game. So do I really need to? So it was really just.
Speaker 1:
39:55
It's a big story that could probably be broken out into like multiple little stories, but it's definitely something in the gaming world. It was probably the biggest thing that happened this month. I mean, like Phil said, we'll probably get some massive earth shattering news once we stop recording. But at the time of recording the switch to official announcement I mean it's coming this year all that kind of stuff was a big deal. And then there was just a lot of discussion around the decisions that nintendo made, because they they came out and they said that they're going to charge that extreme like price hike for mario kart, which everybody knows. Like if you buy a nintendo console you have to buy the mario kart to go with it. It's like it has like the number one attach rate to any of their consoles, especially the Switch. But then they've also come out and said like well, some other games aren't going to be that price. Like we're going to try to, we're going to evaluate this on a game by game basis.
Speaker 1:
40:57
But Nintendo is notorious for never letting their games go on sale. So it's just this whole big like a lot of people have brought up. You know the state of politics and tariffs and all that stuff right now. But at the end of the day I'm pretty sure if the world was as calm as could be, nintendo would still be doing this because they know they can get away with it. They're the company that released three of their most popular Mario games in a collection for like a three month period and then pulled them from shelves. So I don't think you can blame this on the state of the world.
Speaker 1:
41:33
I think this is 100% Nintendo doing Nintendo things because they know they can get away with it and they know that they're like they're not only their die-hard fan base but also just the kind of niche community like slice of gaming that they serve. They're like kids and families and not so hardcore gamers. Like they're gonna kind of do it either way. But I'm curious to see how, like if this has any sort of negative effect on them as a company and if it trickles out into the rest of the industry, like if we start seeing ubisoft try to put 90 price tags on their base games and then like nobody's gonna buy those games at launch because they go on sale in six months anyways. So it's just a really interesting like it's been an interesting couple of years in gaming anyways with prices and live service and just it feels like we're very much in a transition period where the gaming industry is trying to like restructure and figure itself out post-covid and now nintendo has just kind of thrown another wrench into all of that, and so that that is the the news story.
Speaker 1:
42:42
Like I pulled the ign article but like I haven't even looked at it. This is just all kind of my own personal thoughts and things that I've been thinking about since they've, since this happened, which was, I don't know, pretty early in in april at this point it's been a few weeks, so I'm curious to hear what you guys think about all this. Like, obviously, my co-host and I we've talked about this on our show, because that's what we talk about, but I haven't talked with any of you about it, so yeah, let's throw it over to jay first.
Speaker 3:
43:09
Jay, what do you think, um, in terms of what's going on with the switch 2? Did you have any uh desire to try and snag one here today, or are you keen to wait? And yeah, and also, what do you think about? You know some of the other stuff that andrew mentioned there too yeah.
Speaker 5:
43:23
So this is like this is episode worthy topic, which why you did an episode on it. So like there's a ton to like digest here. Um, also, with my personal investment, which is absolutely none, um, I lightly considered it. Um, but that might. But my current switch works fine. My current switch fills the role of a slay the spire machine, um, just fine.
Speaker 5:
43:48
Um, like I, I like, and I played tears of the kingdom on it and like that. It still worked great and I haven't finished it yet. So, like I, I have nintendo things to like go back to when I crave them, and I have a handheld device that works really well. Currently, um, one of the joy cons doesn't work the best, so, but anyways, moving on from that, moving on to the, the switch to, I do agree with Andrew that I do think that this is just Nintendo doing Nintendo things. If anything, like the fact that it's not more money is proof of how resistant nintendo is to the rest of the world. You know, because, like the playstation shit, I don't think sony could do the same thing nintendo is doing right now with a new playstation right you say that, but what did they charge for the ps4 or the ps5 pro?
Speaker 1:
44:39
like I don't know that anybody bought it, but it was ridiculous no, well, that's what that's.
Speaker 5:
44:44
What I'm saying is that if the World Affairs were happening and they were announcing the PS6 and it was going to be $500, it would be $700 because of how the world is today. That's what I'm getting at. I think Nintendo's in a unique position to be able to withstand this. They've been a company for 100 years now for an extraordinarily long amount of time pre-video games and so they can do whatever they want. They can test the market however they see fit.
Speaker 5:
45:18
I don't like it. I'm not a fan. I would love to play the new Mario Kart game, but chances are I'm never going to on my own Switch. You know like I will go and like if somebody else happens to own it, or maybe, you know, in five years, like the, I can rent it from the library. That is my only opportunity to play this game realistically. So it's just not a priority for me. Like there's a ton of other things that I'm going be like that I'm gonna spend my money on first, and you know it, it sucks, but I mean, it's it's. I can blame nintendo because they're being like power, hungry, money, grubby company. Um, you know, I know like they have to make a profit. But but by God, they've made so much goddamn money already. You really, this is what you're doing, so it makes me upset when I think about it, but I don't think about it because I'm not going to buy it. So that's where I'm at.
Speaker 3:
46:18
Yeah, same here. I don't have any invested interest in the Switch. I sold my Switch like a year ago because it was just collecting dust and I also I did have Mario Kart, but I don't know when I bought it. I think again it just kind of sprouts out of somewhere or Amazon orders it on its own and then it shows up at your doorstep and you still have to pay for it. So, because I definitely didn't play Mario Kart for my Switch.
Speaker 3:
46:45
So the only things that could that would interest me in getting a Switch 2 are if the new Pokemon game is good and a new Animal Crossing, and neither one of those things are a given. I mean, animal Crossing is why I got the Switch Lite and then when I got the regular Switch, I really didn't play it too much and honestly, with being more invested in PC gaming than ever, I'd much rather get a Steam Deck. If I were going to get a handheld, I would just pay maybe $100 more for an OLED Steam Deck as opposed to getting a Switch. So yeah, I echo everything you guys just said. No matter what would be going on in the world, nintendo would be doing this. It's even more evidence that GTA 6 is probably going to be $100, and Ubisoft is going to try and do this with some sort of game Watch Dogs 4, far Cry 9, I don't even know what they're on. It's going to be like some kind of ultimate edition. They're going to put all the Watch Dogs games together for $150 or some nonsense like that. It's going to be ridiculous.
Speaker 3:
47:52
So, eric, I know you guys have a Switch and you're a little bit newer to Switch ownership, but it's more so with your son, and I don't think you really ever touch that thing. So, switch, I will say our buddy Jay, my co-host over at Touchdown Jaguars, he got one. He got a pre-order in pretty easily too, so he got one, but he is very much a Nintendo gamer. So, yeah, how are you feeling about all this? And is a Switch 2 in play in your house? You know, it seems like your son is pretty content on the PS4 right now.
Speaker 4:
48:20
So you know, don't think you need switch 2. No, and I just moved, uh, I just moved my xbox into his room, the series s that I don't play, because now I play game pass on my pc. It very which we'll talk about the craziness of game pass in general uh, and didn't make the cut, but this month has they've been on fire and I think it's just more of a reason to not want the switch. To be completely honest, we have a switch light but he barely plays it. He just does not play. He'd prefer his tablet, uh, as far as doing something like, just like right there on the couch or something.
Speaker 4:
48:52
But yeah, he's been getting into a lot of different things, uh, right now, uh, which has been really cool to see. And I think the switch I don't know it just it just doesn't have the appeal for me and my family right now, and specifically just for me. I don't know, I just haven't had that appeal in a while. It seems like the most fun with other people and I'm just never in that situation like in person with other people. If I'm gonna be playing with people, I'd rather play repo or have some fun on rivals the once every three months that we get on.
Speaker 1:
49:27
You know stuff like that hey, that's, we're still playing.
Speaker 4:
49:30
Some of us are still playing I saw you on earlier today I was like oh he's he's just putting in some rivals time, uh. So yeah, no, I mean, again, I'd rather, I'd much rather do that with friends than try to play anything on the switch, and that's just because, again, some people might have that, that, that comfortability with the platform and the content. I was never a big Pokemon guy. I liked Pokemon, you know. But you know, after about Gen three, it's like OK, how many more are we going to get Right? Like it just feels like it's more of the same and I just, I don't know, it just wasn't that good that I had to keep up with it. But if it's been something you kept up with, like I get it.
Speaker 4:
50:13
They've got games coming down the pipeline. The donkey kong game looks really, really good, like as far as mechanics, seems like it's astro bot ish, in the sense that I think it's going to be better than what people would probably expect because it might have some like fun gameplay that is just really addicting and that people aren't necessarily. Maybe they're taking it for granted, but other than that, like everything else is pretty standard from the Nintendo front for me, and it just felt I guess that just feels boring Maybe that's the wrong word, but yeah, it felt bored with the announcements.
Speaker 1:
50:43
Well, the thing about Nintendo games is like, yeah, you can't really get them anywhere. Like Astro Bot is probably one of the biggest competitors we've seen recently as far. Just like whimsical fun, like that childlike wonder of playing a game. Usually, to get that it's like you have to play a Mario game or some sort of Nintendo franchise Like that Donkey Kong get that. It's like you have to play a mario game or you know some sort of nintendo franchise like that donkey kong game looks awesome. And as soon as they announce a new mainline zelda game I will be buying the switch too. Like there's this, because I can't. I mean, I guess I could play that somewhere else if I wanted to. There are ways, but there's really nowhere else to play these games other than and that's why they get away with what they're doing they know that everybody wants to play the new mario kart, so we can just charge whatever we want for it yeah, I'd agree.
Speaker 4:
51:31
I'd agree with the the price thing as well, that, uh, that both you and jay had said like it's nintendo being nintendo, but I mean they put themselves in a position to do so. I was streaming earlier and somebody brought up uh asked me if I was doing the Switch, and my response was the same tonight and they were just talking a little bit about it. And I really think that when it comes down to the Switch, like it's great and all, but like it seems like they have an existing consumer base that they can count on and they're not really trying to do outreach base that they can count on and they're not really trying to do outreach, so they can hike up those prices to the people that they have lured in to their product over these years, where I don't know when it's like Game Pass or PlayStation or anything else, everything else seems to go the opposite direction. Like let's bring new people in. Nintendo feels like they're kind of gatekeeping a little bit.
Speaker 1:
52:23
I compare the hardcore Nintendo fans to Disney adults. There's like the similar behavior there where it's like I can see that they just are like that is just kind of part of their identity and so they might get a little bit frustrated with Nintendo for a while, but they're always going to come back.
Speaker 4:
52:42
They see those Mickey ears. They're like I got to get them, Yep. I have to get those Mickey ears. I don't have them.
Speaker 3:
52:48
Emily, is the Switch 2 going to show up in your household within any point in time? What would get you to? What would be enticing to you to get one?
Speaker 2:
52:59
I did see. I thought so. Currently, no, I'm not, I'm not pre-ordering one, I don't have one on the way, Um, but I thought the game list was interesting, but more than a Mario Kart, I'm looking for a Super Smash Brothers, honestly. And then also, um, I want to see how Pokemon goes, so I'd say, maybe within the next year. Also, my daughter did just turn four, so, and she likes to watch my husband play. Her favorite thing to watch is him playing Fall Guys oh my gosh, she thinks it's hilarious. But so I'm hoping to maybe and I might honestly ask Andrew about this later See what the steps are into, like getting her maybe to actually play something.
Speaker 2:
53:46
Her hands are kind of tiny, so dexterity and stuff, but I feel like that is kind of a good console to start with. But I have not been playing my Switch probably within the last year or so. Nothing has really pulled me in. I've kind of set it aside for a while too, since I don't know I was playing some indie stuff, but then, after the last Pokemon, I really haven't been playing it a lot. So, yeah, eventually, I know I will probably get it, but not immediately. And yep, lost the train of thought. Yep, that's all.
Speaker 3:
54:28
Yeah, it's just something that's. Who knows. Again, if those games that I mentioned, if those pop up, then maybe that will entice me. But right now, is it $500 for the? Is it $550 without Mario Kart? No, I think it's $450 and $500 with Mario Kart. Now five. What was it 500 for the? Is it 550?
Speaker 1:
54:43
for without this, without the, without mario kart, no, I think it's 450 and 550 with mario kart, yeah yeah, and like, like you said, eric, I mean mario kart.
Speaker 3:
54:50
It's not a game I'm gonna play on my own and I'm not hosting enough right now to where to have people over and warrant buying mario kart or anything like that, and that's probably why I got it the first time around and we never played it. So we'll end up like at a bar that has a Mario Kart or at another party or you know, with some friends that have Mario Kart on or something like that. But it's never. I've never like man. I wish I could get in some Mario Kart time solo.
Speaker 4:
55:15
That's not my thing, yeah, and we talked about this on the episode for Slay the Spire that just released on the podcast. And we talked about going back to our Foresight episode when Jay brought up like you don't really like play handheld games, like that's not a thing you enjoy, and I was like, not really. Since that conversation I have now played several games that I would fit under that description where it's like, yeah, I would If I had my Switch. I would do if I, if I wanted to get a switch, I would do that. But to Phil's point, like I wouldn't need a switch, I could just get like a steam deck. Like I wouldn't get Nintendo games for the switch.
Speaker 4:
55:54
I just feel like they're at their best party games and, from a single player experience, it's a franchise that you love. And I just don't love any of the franchises. I'm not a zelda guy, I'm not a metroid guy, none of it. None of it. All the big hitters, the little hitters, you know. Yeah, I liked luigi's mansion. I don't want to play every Luigi's Mansion that comes out.
Speaker 1:
56:17
You seem like a Gooigi guy, you know what Listen.
Speaker 5:
56:23
Listen, I like the off-brand ones.
Speaker 4:
56:25
Okay, that's just what it is.
Speaker 3:
56:27
What's the off-brand Luigi's Mansion?
Speaker 4:
56:30
I don't know. I don't know. We're going to find out.
Speaker 3:
56:35
But yeah, I mean, let us know, did you guys anybody listening? Did you guys stand in a virtual line or a physical line? Some people actually went to GameStops and pre-ordered those. Some GameStops got them, so we'll see. But yeah, great story, andrew, and yeah, eric, let's bring up this chaos. I think I got it.
Speaker 4:
56:55
Okay, so you tell me what's going to happen next. I'm number five, no.
Speaker 5:
57:01
I'm going to scream.
Speaker 4:
57:04
Phil, now Okay.
Speaker 3:
57:09
I'm 11 through 20.
Speaker 4:
57:10
Now we're on the four-sided die. Okay, now we're on the four-sided die. Emily is one and two, you are three and four. There is no five.
Speaker 3:
57:22
Okay.
Speaker 4:
57:23
I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna drumroll you. And then we're all gonna say roll that die.
Speaker 3:
57:35
I am Alright Again. You don't need the drum roll.
Speaker 5:
57:45
Roll.
Speaker 3:
57:46
Die. This is significantly worse. No 100%.
Speaker 4:
57:50
Phil, it is yours. It is yours.
Speaker 1:
57:54
I guess we're saving the best for last.
Speaker 3:
57:56
All right direwolves.
Speaker 3:
58:02
A second direwolf story would be crazy. But yeah, my story isn't necessarily like a pop culture story I mean it is but it's just also an opportunity to talk about what's probably my favorite movie of the year which just came out, and it is Sinners. And Ryan Coogler knows ball you guys, because Puss in Boots the Last Wish isn't just creating take a shot isn't just creating an existential crisis for viewers, for Ryan Coogler, it's giving him inspiration for his next movie. If only all of us could see a movie about a cat contemplating his existence through Coogler's eyes. On the Get Wrecked podcast, coogler shared with the host that the latest Puss in Boots adventure became a key element in his upcoming film, sinners, which is now out. At the time of this recording, he said, quote think about the villain, think about his defining features, think about his demeanor. Puss in Boots' big villain had piercing red eyes and there's a lot of similar themes in Sinners as well, and I just really geeked out over this headline and I saw the clip of him talking about it, because that movie is very popular amongst a few of us here with Puss in Boots the Last Wish, and Sinners just came out here recently in theaters and it is fantastic.
Speaker 3:
59:15
Eric, I know you reviewed it. I had not given it like a review or anything over on, like our Discord or anything, but I gave it a five out of five on letterbox. It is my favorite movie of the year. Um, the performances are outstanding. So I wanted to talk about, uh, you know ryan coogler, um being obviously a a great knower of film when he's talking about puss in boots, the last wish. But also, if you guys have not seen it, I know a lot of. You know some of y'all don't go to the movies as much as Eric and I do, but are you going to see Sinners, whether it be in theaters or when it hits streaming? Emily, I know you don't get to go to the movies as much We've talked about that in the past but you try and get to stuff that's on streaming as. Are you a fan of something like this when it comes to a new horror franchise, or what do you know about?
Speaker 2:
1:00:03
the movie at all. I'm going to be honest I just heard about this movie this week and I have not had time to look up any sort of synopsis, so I have no fucking clue what it's about.
Speaker 3:
1:00:14
Do you want a synopsis or do you want to go in blind if you do watch it later?
Speaker 2:
1:00:18
Did you say it's horror? Yes, then I. If you do watch it later. Did you say it's horror, yes, then I will absolutely not watch it.
Speaker 1:
1:00:21
Okay, so you can tell me anything okay, we'll skip emily and true what a person to jump to, because I also don't go to the movies very often and, uh, don't like horror. I also, just in general, don't really keep up with TV and movies as much. These days, it's like any of my kind of free, relaxed time is like gaming most of the time.
Speaker 1:
1:00:46
So even if it was a movie I was like semi-interested in, I still probably wouldn't have seen it. When you were talking I honestly for a minute thought it was just like a string of wait for it, like memes and like catchphrases and words, just all kind of strung together. I was like what is he saying? What is phil talking about?
Speaker 4:
1:01:07
I've heard these words yeah what are they?
Speaker 1:
1:01:10
I was I was just waiting, like you kept mentioning puss in boots. He's gonna bring up the rock at some point, like what?
Speaker 4:
1:01:19
it's so funny because it's like when you're around someone who speaks a different language, you don't know what they're saying, but after a certain amount of time.
Speaker 1:
1:01:25
You're like wait a second Black Adam. What are we doing here?
Speaker 3:
1:01:29
What are we?
Speaker 1:
1:01:30
doing here.
Speaker 3:
1:01:31
Well, I really picked the story for Jay and Eric. So, jay, are you going to see Sinners 1? And also, I just thought it was really cool that ryan coogler, uh, was also a big fan of pussy. Boost the last wish.
Speaker 5:
1:01:45
No, I, I, I love the shout um from from ryan coogler for the last wish. I'm also a big, big lover of that movie, um, and so I I'm probably not going to go see this one in in theaters because the the theater budget's a little tight these days, and when the theater budget isn't tight, you know $8 Tuesdays or whatever, that's when everybody else goes, because everybody else's budget is tight too, so I don't like going to a full theater.
Speaker 5:
1:02:12
I'm picky that way, so I'm happy to wait for this one to come to streaming, but I am looking forward to it. I love I've really enjoyed everything else that Ryan Coogler has done, so I'm looking forward to what he's got next for me.
Speaker 3:
1:02:29
I'll say this too, eric, before I throw it over to you as far as sitters, because you know that I don't really watch a lot of horror, really kind of, in theaters. I usually wait so I can watch it at home, but this one there's really not the only. I really only jumped in the rattlesnake part, which was stupid because it's in the fucking trailer, so I should have known that it was coming, but it did startle me because it was so loud when it happened in the theater. But in terms of like, uh, in terms of like jump scare horror, it doesn't do any of that. Uh, because Ryan Coogler is too good of a director to rely on jump scares, so he doesn't have to do any of that. Um, and it really it is very gory. So if that's not your thing, that's definitely going to be, uh, a trigger warning for people.
Speaker 3:
1:03:10
But, uh, I mean, I've been a big fan of Michael B Jordan for so long. I don't know who taught Haley Steinfeld to talk like that, but Josh Allen's probably. Like, what the fuck is going on? Who is this woman that I'm marrying? But she is also fantastic. But, yeah, performances all around in that film were great and, eric, I definitely want to see it again and I wish so bad that we could see it in IMAX 70mm. I don't know if there's one of those theaters in Orlando or Tampa, but I don't think I traveled to Tampa, but I would travel to Orlando and I still don't think there's one of those over there either, which is a huge bummer.
Speaker 4:
1:03:44
Yeah, I mean just seeing IMAX in general, let alone 70 millimeter is a whole different and not just the IMAX, real IMAX.
Speaker 4:
1:03:50
Yeah, real IMAX. Yeah, that's a whole different discussion. But yeah, I gave sinners a four out of five, but I'm very, very clear that on a second rewatch and I do plan on rewatching this film by the end of the year uh, I could easily see that jumping to a four and a half. Uh, it's, it's a very good, uh, very good movie. Ryan Coogler is in his bag right now with filmmaking. Michael B Jordan Perfect that they're the Leo and Scorsese right now that's going on in Hollywood. So I think they've got a good thing going together their chemistry. It's very interesting to see the movie, how it played out, because it does feel like the, because he plays twin brothers, michael B Jordan, it does kind of feel like it's like the fourth time that's happened this year.
Speaker 4:
1:04:38
Yeah, but it also feels like one of those roles who else did this? This year there's been four films it's like a trope that won't go away. It's done very well. Michael B Jordan's great, but it does feel like one of those spots was supposed to be Jonathan Majors, so it very much feels like that's what they were going for. If you know, he wasn't in shambles right now, but I digress. Sinners great, great film. I really, really enjoyed it, I think the less you know about it.
Speaker 3:
1:05:10
He was the other one, phil, don't bring up Mickey 17.
Speaker 4:
1:05:13
We don't have to talk about.
Speaker 5:
1:05:13
Mickey 17. Wait, did you not like Mickey 17?
Speaker 4:
1:05:17
It was okay. Oh, phil, we both gave it a three right. Yeah, three out of five, yeah.
Speaker 3:
1:05:25
It's fine.
Speaker 4:
1:05:27
To pivot really quick. I will tell you it wasn't because of Robert Pattinson. No, I personally think the Mark Ruffalo character sucks. I don't like it. I just don't like the parody of it. I understand that. That's like the whole point. I thought it was a little too over the top and fucking good.
Speaker 3:
1:05:45
Oh, Jay gave it a four and a half.
Speaker 4:
1:05:48
Oh yeah, no, 100% not. Is that your first Bong Joon-ho movie?
Speaker 5:
1:05:53
No, it is not. No, okay, yeah, now I don't understand oh, okay, yeah, I um. Now I don't understand. I was gonna let you go, you're gonna let me go. I was like, oh, that's your first one, that's okay, this is my. This is my favorite bong chun ho movie. I would. I would say that's crazy.
Speaker 5:
1:06:09
Yeah, oh wow I don't think I also. This is probably. This is the only movie I've seen in the theater in the last six months, so I think that probably had a lot to do with it because, like I, like, haven't spent. And I think that probably had a lot to do with it because, like I, like, haven't spent. And I think that had a big effect on it because it was on the big screen. I know you guys see every new movie in the theaters, so, like, it's a baseline but, like cause, I love being in a full theater.
Speaker 5:
1:06:31
Yeah, no there was two other people in the theater when I watched Mickey 17. It was Mickey 17. It was the ideal experience for me. Um no, I thought it was great. I thought Mark Ruffalo was hilarious.
Speaker 4:
1:06:46
I was, I was so on board, yeah, no, if you love that, if you love the character and the performance, I mean it makes it makes a ton of sense. Uh, it just did not work for me. I also thought the movie was a little bit of a mess, which kind of explains why they pushed it back so much, and that was concerning, because this movie had been pushed back, phil, for like years, right Like with S like several times, and it was concerning. I think, again, some of the themes are a little too on the nose. I also very much got Okja vibes from it, like as far as the theme.
Speaker 4:
1:07:19
So I hadn't watched Snowpiercer, but I heard it was very similar to that. So it just kind of felt like a rehashing of films he's done better and I don't know for that reason it just didn't hit for me. But I wanted to like it. I went in excited and I walked out just a little underwhelmed.
Speaker 5:
1:07:37
Alright. Well, it was nice being friends with you, eric.
Speaker 4:
1:07:41
Okay, or watch Sinners, because Sinners is really good objectively and you'll probably love it.
Speaker 5:
1:07:46
I'm going to give it three stars out of spite, but yeah, okay.
Speaker 4:
1:07:49
Okay.
Speaker 3:
1:07:53
That was Eric that just went on a Mickey 17.
Speaker 4:
1:07:56
Yeah, but Phil didn't like it either.
Speaker 3:
1:07:58
I gave it a three, and my three is not the same as your three.
Speaker 4:
1:08:00
No, no, we don't like threes.
Speaker 3:
1:08:01
You don't like threes? Okay. I thought, Mickey 17 was fine. Roll the fucking dice.
Speaker 4:
1:08:08
Okay, well, yeah, no. So, emily, I know you're confused, but he is in fact right. We do have to roll the dice like we would roll the wheel.
Speaker 3:
1:08:26
So what? To roll the dice like we would roll the wheel. So what I'm gonna do here because you know this makes sense I'm gonna just do a d20. Right, we're gonna. We're gonna roll this in a minute. Give us a one number.
Speaker 4:
1:08:32
You me, andrew and jay, and if we, and if it's on our number, we get to go again and emily. Okay, how about this? How about? How about let's Hold on? This would be really funny, this would be really funny. So Emily can get anything, but if she gets a one, if she gets a one, she can't do her story. She'll just leave the recording.
Speaker 2:
1:08:53
I will absolutely leave.
Speaker 4:
1:08:56
We'll say if she gets a 20, she'll have some type of cheating ability in the Kahoot game. There we go.
Speaker 2:
1:09:03
All right, drumroll guys. You're rolling. For me, though, google's rolling. Roll that guy.
Speaker 1:
1:09:14
Drumroll is so loud. The drumroll got louder.
Speaker 4:
1:09:18
Yeah, I don't know why it's so loud, but it is what it is. You got 10, which doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. So, Emily, your turn.
Speaker 2:
1:09:28
Great, I feel awesome being here now. I feel really wanted. I have two stories, I guess, trying to think what would be more interesting, I'll go with the one, the first one. So I just did a little, you know, deep dive search last night and I found out that Bill Hader, who I absolutely adore and love, is developing a series with HBO about the Jonestown Massacre. With HBO about the Jonestown Massacre and I, for whatever reason, I'm not one of those typical white women where I love all the murder podcasts. I never really got into that.
Speaker 5:
1:10:11
Like.
Speaker 2:
1:10:11
Dylan. Yeah, I don't know much about the Jonestown Massacre so I had to look it up a little bit. I don't know much about the Jonestown Massacre so I had to look it up a little bit. But he will co-write and co-showrun the series and it's also he's probably going to direct and possibly star in it. I don't honestly know how much information is known, but overall, in 1978, preacher Jim Jones moved his congregation to Guyana in the Caribbean, called the People's Temple Agricultural Project resulted in the shooting of a congressman and the murder-suicide of over 900 people via poison. So pretty dark, but I mean kind of goes along with. I Love Barry. Bill Hader is amazing in so many ways and so if he is developing something like this I will probably watch it, so I'm excited.
Speaker 3:
1:11:07
Yeah, I shared this in the Discord the other day. Eric, I have not seen Barry. It is on my, it has been sitting in my queue forever and I know I'm going to fall in love with that show. I just haven't done it. But Bill Hader is one of my favorites and, uh, if he is involved with this then it's gonna be outstanding, so I cannot wait for this. Uh, jay, sound, just based off of your body language. It sounds like maybe you've watched Barry and are also a fan of Bill Hader's as well.
Speaker 5:
1:11:34
I did. I'm halfway through Barry. I did fall off of it. I'm very much looking forward to coming back to it at some point. I do. I love Hater quite a bit. He's very enjoyable whenever he's on screen. I just watched an old not that old 2009 film called Adventureland that he was in for the first time ever and it was so funny. But yes, I saw this come through on the Discord. I'm looking forward to it because I think that he's just he. He he's brilliant in such like interesting and hilarious ways. I admire his comedy a lot. So, yeah, I'll absolutely give this a go when it comes out comedy a lot, um.
Speaker 3:
1:12:23
So yeah, I'll absolutely give this a go when it comes out. Andrew, I know you also are not, uh, really a true crime person, uh, but know anything of bill hader's work. Are you familiar with anything he's been in, or are you a fan and are you gonna watch the jonestown hbo series?
Speaker 1:
1:12:35
I mean, I'll let you all hear my voice. You probably could have skipped over me for this one. Wasn't he the last man on Earth? Wasn't that him?
Speaker 4:
1:12:46
No, you're thinking of Will Forte.
Speaker 1:
1:12:48
Then yes, I have no idea who we're talking about.
Speaker 3:
1:12:51
I'm probably not going to watch this show. Bill Hader is one of the cops in Superbad. That's not Seth Rogen.
Speaker 4:
1:12:58
That's such a specific goal.
Speaker 3:
1:13:00
I just figured Superbad would be it. Okay, I'm trying to think of what else I mean. He was on SNL.
Speaker 1:
1:13:06
Yeah, I recognize him from SNL. I guess I thought he was the guy in Last man on.
Speaker 4:
1:13:10
Earth. You would know him by his face.
Speaker 1:
1:13:12
No, yeah, I know who he is, I recognize him and I think a lot of his like I see a lot of clips of his him and I think a lot of his like. I see a lot of clips of his like we were talking about earlier on social media and stuff like I see a lot of SNL clips and things like that that he's in. He was in Tropic Thunder, which I, you know, love that movie. He was in Hot Rod, apparently, which I know I've seen but don't remember of most importantly, of course, eric.
Speaker 3:
1:13:34
He is in Night at the Museum Battle at the Smithsonian. He is outstanding.
Speaker 4:
1:13:38
I thought for sure you were gonna say forgetting sarah marshall there. Well, that too I love forgetting sarah marshall, a great movie.
Speaker 3:
1:13:43
He's also in year one, which is a movie that she's one of the movies that's come out, so yeah, no one of the movies of all time one of the movies. That's one of them.
Speaker 1:
1:13:52
He was in sausage party. I've seen that that one left a lasting impact on me, so I know of him. I think he's entertaining. I've enjoyed him in the movies that I've seen. I don't really know much about this upcoming project and maybe if it's something that my wife puts on, I'll end up sitting down and watching it with her, but it's probably not something that I would seek out myself.
Speaker 3:
1:14:23
And comedic actors are typically fantastic when it comes to dramatic roles as well.
Speaker 1:
1:14:28
So yeah, cause they're hiding behind the jokes.
Speaker 3:
1:14:30
Oh yeah, absolutely At a comedy club, in the green room at a comedy club is just pure sadness, I just see. So you guys know Eric, you also are not a true crime guy, but you are a fan of Bill Hader and I know Barry is something we have circled both of us for years now. But any interest in this new project Because, again, anytime his name is attached to something I pay attention.
Speaker 4:
1:14:53
I've got to add Barry to the late to the party list, which is growing. So a lot of stuff that we need to catch up on and that would be a fun episode because we like Bill Hader. We like Bill Hader except in it, chapter Two, which is one of the worst films that have ever been made. So that's unfortunate. But yeah, outside of that he's been and he wasn't the problem there. That movie was just really really bad.
Speaker 4:
1:15:15
His performances have always been really good, whether they're comedic, dramatic, like anytime I've seen him on screen it's always been a plus and it just seems like behind the camera and behind the scenes he's really starting to make an impact, which is really interesting. So the news itself is interesting, even if the genre or the topic is not something I'm familiar with or not necessarily like biting at immediately. I think I could get interested with the trailer and the premise itself, but I would definitely have to wait to see a visual just off of the topic alone, like it sounds like something that would be made into a show or movie. That sounds pretty dramatic. That's a lot of dead people.
Speaker 3:
1:15:54
I'm surprised it hasn't already. There are Jonestown what's the word I'm looking for? There are Jonestown, shows correct.
Speaker 2:
1:16:05
It said there was a movie that was supposed to be done with Leonardo, but I think it got like nixed or something like that.
Speaker 3:
1:16:18
Yeah, but yeah, jonestown in general, eric, if you're not familiar, is like one of those major stories. Any true crime podcast has covered Jonestown, so it is up there. So, but yeah, again, bill Hader, fantastic, super talented, so definitely going to be keeping an eye on this one for sure. But, eric, this is the part of the episode where we go around and see if anybody just wants to throw out either some extra stories just really quick that they would like to mention, and we can kind of go from there. You usually handle that roundtable if you'd like to go around the circle or however you want to do it.
Speaker 4:
1:16:52
Yeah, yeah yeah, so I'll do the Discord roundup at the end, which, if you're not a part of our Discord, we have a pop culture news channel and this month was extremely busy. I actually had to condense the stories and pick the ones that I thought were some of the biggest ones, because this month had a lot of stuff going on more recently here, some of the casting of the Hunger Games, the new movie for Sunrise of the Reaping, so there's a lot of stuff going on in that channel. Check it out, but I think this will be a great time. Just some quick hitters if you want to let us know what your didn't make the cut stories were, and then we'll just kind of go around and see if anybody has any commentary before I throw several stories out from our Discord and we'll start off with Jay. Jay, do you have any stories that didn't make the cut that you want to throw out there?
Speaker 5:
1:17:40
So one thing, that kind of circles, minorly circles back to the Jonestown thing. Has anybody seen the studio coming out on Apple TV?
Speaker 4:
1:17:48
No, I want to see it really bad With Seth Rogen.
Speaker 5:
1:17:50
Yes, with Seth Rogen there's a Jonestown comes up in a very funniest way. Jonestown can come up in the series. So, um, but I have watched the first couple episodes. It's a new series coming out, and so that was going to be the one one that I brought up as a new series in April. That I'm really enjoying so far and I would highly recommend.
Speaker 5:
1:18:14
If you're an Apple TV subscriber, um, my other did not make the cut. Um, that, I think maybe only remotely applies to eric. Here is going to be a new real-time strategy game that came out just a couple days ago called tempest rising, um, made by a lot of the people that used to work on the old command and conquer games that have since left left ea, um, because they're a terrible company and they got together and they made a very Command Conquer-like game. Basically, this is like borderline IP theft. It's extremely close, but it came out just a couple days ago. I am very much planning on playing it, but I'm very excited for it. They even got the guy who made the music for all the old Command Conquer games as well to come back and do the music too, so very pumped for Tempest Rising.
Speaker 3:
1:19:07
You and Jay played Command Conquer a couple weeks ago. How did that go for you?
Speaker 4:
1:19:12
Well, so you know what I'm still learning. I'm still learning the ropes again, because it's been a while since I played last. I would like to think that it went well with that being. You know, considered uh, but no, this uh, tempest rising looked really cool. I did not know, it already came out just like a couple days ago, yeah like a couple days ago.
Speaker 4:
1:19:32
Yeah, I mean this looks sick with the updated graphics and everything. I mean I'd be very curious, let me know if this is something that's worth it, because I mean I will jump on board and play it. Uh, this month has been very eye-opening to all the games that I'm trying to play, so for that reason I'm not jumping yet. But if you I mean if you give it your stamp of approval and it's got that command and conquer flair, like it just seems like this this game is okay. Fine, we'll do it ourselves.
Speaker 2:
1:19:59
If you don't want to give us new Command Conquer content.
Speaker 4:
1:20:02
Fine, so I'm totally down with that. Andrew, Emily, Phil, anybody want to chime in on either the studio or Tempest Rising? You do not have to chime in the studio is definitely on my watch list.
Speaker 3:
1:20:16
I mentioned it in the Foresight episode, so I can't wait to watch it. Cool, cool, all right, definitely on my watch list. I mentioned it in the Foresight episode so I can't wait to watch it.
Speaker 4:
1:20:21
Cool Alright, phil, did you have any? Didn't make the cut.
Speaker 3:
1:20:25
Yeah, just really quick. Pacific Rim TV series has been greenlit for Amazon. Hopefully they make up for the terrible sequel and just accept that that is not canon. There's a Toys R Us live action movie coming out for some reason, so we'll see what happens. And then this isn't a story, but I just have to mention that I've been listening to Good Hang with Amy Poehler, which is her new podcast, and I've listened to two episodes. I've listened to the Martin Short episode and the Katherine Hahn episode and I was smiling for 45 minutes straight. She is so good at hosting this podcast and it just seems like all of her guests so far are just so happy to be with her that that energy crosses over to them. So definitely check that out. It is outstanding and it's a good podcast to mix in amongst all the murder and paranormal shit that I listen to.
Speaker 4:
1:21:17
It's a good palate cleanser, that's all I have glad, I'm glad you had a celebrity podcast that you actually enjoy, I know, since we, I'll tell you the katherine hond episode.
Speaker 3:
1:21:26
They just pretty much talk about parks and rec for the first 20 minutes. So if you were a fan of that show, go go check that out. It's so good I figure there's.
Speaker 4:
1:21:33
There's quite a lot of that. So the aimer, uh amy puller podcast, uh R Us movie no clue what the hell that would even look like, but I guess the studio or the company that's involved with that also got involved with Sonic, so maybe there's some hope for it. I can't imagine that movie ends in a happy ending, right. And then the Pacific Rim television show on Amazon. Good for you, man, good for you Emily. Andrew Jay, anybody want to chime in with something on any of those three? Didn't make the cuts.
Speaker 5:
1:22:07
Pacific Rim. Hell yeah, toys R Us. I don't care, I can't even remember. The third thing, the podcast. It was the Amy Poehler podcast. I don't. I also don't care. I mean, it's another celebrity podcast. So I mean, I get that, it's cool. I just can't.
Speaker 4:
1:22:24
It's like some of us are trying to run our own podcasts and we're not celebrities. Let us have it. Yeah, I feel like whenever one celebrity gets one we need to remove another.
Speaker 3:
1:22:32
It needs to be that kind of system.
Speaker 5:
1:22:34
Yeah, where we get rid of somebody else, there needs to be a rotation.
Speaker 4:
1:22:40
Zach Braff. There can only be so much. Andrew, emily, anybody want to chime in Pacific Rim, toys R Us movie, amy Puller podcast. No, they're like yeah, no, we heard movies and TV. We said nope, emily, it's your turn, didn't make the cut. Do you have anything for?
Speaker 2:
1:22:57
us? I do, and it's actually about a TV show.
Speaker 4:
1:23:01
Oh wow, okay.
Speaker 2:
1:23:03
Yeah, and I knew nothing about this, but it popped up and I was like I'm sorry, what the fuck is this? So apparently there is going to be a gender swapped TV show version of the movie Holes Sorry, the book Holes. Did anyone know that?
Speaker 1:
1:23:22
No.
Speaker 2:
1:23:22
I had heard about it.
Speaker 1:
1:23:23
I had seen some headlines. Oh my god.
Speaker 2:
1:23:26
So they've got, and it's been a long time. It's a great book. Excuse me, why am I saying that it's a great book, but it's been a while since I've read it, because they cast Greg Kinnear as the warden, who was originally played by Sigourney Weaver, and the counselor that was called Mr Sir, played by John Voight, is now going to be played by Aidy Bryant, and they have a woman named Shay Rudolph who is playing Haley instead of Stanley, and it's all. Why are we doing this? Why are we doing this? I don't. I'm so mad. I don't understand. Nobody asked for this. There are other things out there. What's happening?
Speaker 4:
1:24:16
Yeah, it's.
Speaker 3:
1:24:17
There's other ways to adapt holes. If you really wanted to, I mean you could.
Speaker 4:
1:24:21
It's going to be a Disney Plus show. Yeah, read the book. It looks like it might be a show because it says pilot it's a. Tv show.
Speaker 2:
1:24:28
Yeah, TV show.
Speaker 4:
1:24:31
That is crazy.
Speaker 2:
1:24:32
Yeah, that doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 1:
1:24:35
This will do well. I'm predicting that this will do very well.
Speaker 4:
1:24:38
It's going to be very successful. Big fans of Genders and all the swaps.
Speaker 2:
1:24:44
Sure, but why no? I didn't know this was a Okay. Yep, just read that yesterday.
Speaker 4:
1:24:53
I was reading the comments on Reddit.
Speaker 3:
1:24:57
I'm sure those are solid.
Speaker 4:
1:24:59
I guess one of the characters' name is Sissy and this person said I couldn't remember who Sissy was in the book, so I did a quick Google search for Sissy holes. I don't know what I was expecting.
Speaker 5:
1:25:16
Yeah, that's Sorry, I had to get that out or it was me the rest of the episode. That's Sorry, I had to get that out it was me.
Speaker 4:
1:25:20
The rest of the episode.
Speaker 3:
1:25:21
That was all, andrew. Do you have any? Didn't make the cuts.
Speaker 1:
1:25:27
Yeah, I do. The first didn't make the cut was that the Oblivion remaster just dropped on Tuesday. They announced it, they confirmed it was real and then they said now go play it. It's a Game Pass game and it came to PlayStation and PC and on PlayStation and PC it's not like a full $70 price point, it's like $50 or like $60 for the Deluxe Edition. I thought that was pretty cool, a good win for for bethesda. I downloaded it. I played out of like the tutorial intro area. It looks great. It retains a lot of the same charm and jank that the original had, so looking forward to playing more of that when games kind of settle down. We're in a bit of a hot period right now with game releases.
Speaker 1:
1:26:22
My other story was that Skull Bones is adding land combat. So Skull Bones the quadruple, a pirate game from Ubisoft that was spun off of Assassin's creed 4, black flag, that was only ship combat live service game didn't do well at all. Not only is it still being like updated and maintained by ubisoft, like they're still putting content in this game, but they're adding land combat, which is like the most like people are like why? Why is it only ships? We want to play as the pirate. Well, they're doing that. Apparently. I didn't actually like watch any. I didn't watch the trailer or anything.
Speaker 1:
1:27:08
I read the article, um, but also this is kind of similar. It reminded me of what they did with star wars outlaws, where they hired a new game director for that game after it came out and then they they kept putting like they're putting new content, they're updating it, fixing all the things people didn't like. And so on the one hand there's like the cynical part of me that's like why are you even doing this, ubisoft? Why bother? But on the other hand it's like, well, isn't this kind of what we want? We want these companies to take ownership of their poor decisions and their rushed games and the the crap that they put out. And now they're like trying to fix them and make them better.
Speaker 1:
1:27:48
I mean, I don't know what this land combat looks like. Once I see it, there's a good chance that I may download this game and just at least check it out, cause I'm sure I can get it for pretty cheap or potentially on game pass in the next who knows how long. So I just stumbled upon that article prepping for this episode. I hadn't actually heard about it before that and I thought it was really interesting that ubisoft is like putting forth the effort, especially in the state of that company right now, to like, add these major features and like mechanics to a game that, as far as I knew, was a meme and was dead. So that was my honorable mentions.
Speaker 4:
1:28:35
Yeah, I mean good ones. Yeah, I mean good ones. Um, the the game pass comment I was going to make for didn't make the cut was the oblivion remastered, which is definitely a remake. It is definitely a remake.
Speaker 4:
1:28:48
Uh, based off of what I've heard and what I've seen, visually, for sure, yeah visually, yeah, and they've done some things with the combat to make it more skyrim ish, yeah, although I think the combat's probably going to be the weakest part of the game, as it was in the original is what it sounds like. But Game Pass getting that Blueprints also being on, game Pass, which is an early game of the year contender in a lot of people's eyes, and up until Claire Obscure, I think, was like pretty much the highest rated game this year. And then Claire Obscure. Expedition 33, which looks to be a banger I only got through, was like pretty much the highest rated game this year. And then clear, obscure expedition 33, which looks to be a banger. I only got through the prologue. I can definitely see some of the appeal when it comes to the uniqueness of the combat.
Speaker 4:
1:29:28
Uh, game pass is cooking. Game pass is cooking right now after quite a while of really arguably not being worth it. Uh, it is. It is taking a turn this year, it seems like. And then for Skull Bones, like them, making those updates was for people like Andrew, like the guy that's going to be like. I might check it out, I might give it a shot. I know what it was for. I get it. I get it, but like I'm never going to touch that game, I want the Black Flag remaster that we kept hearing about.
Speaker 3:
1:29:59
They're going to drop that Black Flag remaster. They're going to be like hey, you guys having fun playing on land in Sea of Thieves, Guess what's here and they're going to drop the Black Flag remake in September. Yeah, we know, you know what they're doing.
Speaker 4:
1:30:14
But anyone else want to make a comment or add commentary to any of the Game Pass news, especially around Elder Scrolls Oblivion being remastered or Skull Bones?
Speaker 5:
1:30:26
Yeah, no, the Skull Bones thing is actually pretty interesting. It reminds me. The only story I can think of that is similar is no Man's Sky. That's the game that I always think about, that clawed its way back to life after such like a terrible launch, and so, like it's proven that it can be done, and so I imagine that the people that are working on this game may just feel passionately enough that they wanted to get it done. Or maybe Ubisoft is like we can't fail, otherwise the company's gonna go down. So make this game better, please. Like. I don't know which one it is, but it's very interesting. I'll be watching it because, like that's, yeah, it'll be a proof of concept to see if it can be done by big companies like Ubisoft.
Speaker 4:
1:31:12
Yeah, all right guys. Well, you took several of my stories, which is great, because now my Discord roundup will be even shorter. I've got a handful still, though, and this is again still only a snippet of what people are posting in our Discord for the news in April. We're going to start off on a somber note. Val Kilmer died at 65. The star you may know him in Batman, as Batman in Top Gun in Tombstone, so definitely just an honorable RIP. A legend gone.
Speaker 4:
1:31:43
Then taking a turn, I don't know how you transition after that one. You guys may have heard about all the Minecraft theaters that had more than enough energy from its audience, throwing popcorn and sodas and screaming chicken jockey. Well, there were several incidents where the police had to get involved. So welcome to movie theater going experience in 2025. Both Predator films that are coming out this year look really, really good and it looks to be another revival of the franchise after a successful iteration called Prey in the last couple years. Predator Killer of Killers is an animated film and then Predator Badlands is coming out later this year, and both of these look really, really interesting, so if you're a fan of that franchise might have some good commentary there. Disney paused development on the live-action Tangled interesting, so if you're a fan of that franchise might have some good commentary there. Disney pause development on the live action tangled.
Speaker 4:
1:32:41
After the snow white movie flop, thank god, fucking surprise, surprise, uh, robert pattinson is being eyed to star in dune 3. I'm a big dune head so I thought that was notable. Loved, uh, robert pattinson in Mickey 17, although I didn't love the movie, sorry. Jay Sony is tasked with releasing the Chainsaw man movie in US theaters on October 29th. So for our anime heads, very exciting stuff. My boy getting a movie right there. The King of the Hill show is getting a revival series that's's releasing this summer on Hulu. Seems completely unnecessary, but I know some people are going to be excited about it Bobby according to high profile apex legend leakers, titanfall three is rumored to release next year.
Speaker 4:
1:33:31
I'll believe it when I see it, but God damn it. Finally we need it. And the final did make the cut from our discord. Uh, the first glimpses of Epic universe are making their way out and it looks crazy. Uh, universal Orlando officially opens the third and newest theme park on May 22nd. But a lot of the early uh looks at it have been getting a lot of attention. So, val Kilmer in memoriam, chicken jockey movie, theater experiences everything predator, the tangled remake, robert Pattinson, dune three, chainsaw man movie, king of the hill revival, titanfall three and epic universe. Does anyone want to add any commentary? Andrew, I'll throw it to you to start.
Speaker 1:
1:34:19
That was such a long list.
Speaker 4:
1:34:21
It was. It's the worst part of the episode I saw.
Speaker 1:
1:34:24
Jack Black also appeared in some theaters for the Minecraft movie, which I thought was interesting. It'd be kind of fun to see Jack Black in your theater. It reminds me of the Rick and Morty thing with theel on sauce where, like, the fandom just turned into complete idiots. Uh, titanfall 3. You said that and I kind of forgot everything else that you mentioned, because if we could get a titanfall 3 like that might just make the world whole again, like that alone yeah, titanfall 2 is such an amazing.
Speaker 1:
1:34:57
It was like the best first person shooter multiplayer that I think I've ever played, and then it had a stellar like campaign amazing campaign alongside it. So I don't I mean, I still have faith in respawn. They still have been making good games. Um, I don't have a lot of faith in ea, but, yeah, titanfall 3, that would be fantastic.
Speaker 4:
1:35:21
Oh yeah, emily, any of those stories, literally any of them that caught your attention, that you wanted to talk about.
Speaker 2:
1:35:31
That was a lot.
Speaker 1:
1:35:32
No more Disney remakes. That's what you wanted to say.
Speaker 4:
1:35:36
How disappointed are you in the Tangled? Live action not happening.
Speaker 2:
1:35:40
I don't even know who was cast in, it Doesn't matter.
Speaker 3:
1:35:42
I don't think they had started yet. I don't think they started.
Speaker 2:
1:35:45
Okay, then I don't know. I mean, they have not been stellar. My little anecdote is my daughter keeps wanting to go see the Minecraft movie because she knows that her dad plays Minecraft, and I'm like that is not for you, you are four. So I keep having to tell her she can't go see it and she doesn't like hearing that. So that's, whenever I see the Minecraft movie I'm like she can't see that yet.
Speaker 3:
1:36:11
So that's all I got Counterpoint.
Speaker 2:
1:36:19
if she's four, you can just put on minecraft youtube video and tell her it's the minecraft I mean. Well, I don't know. She's pretty smart, she can read already um, and she remembers everything I say, yeah, I'm good, because I don't know what people put in there. You know like I don't trust YouTube for my four-year-old, who, you know, is like a parrot, so no.
Speaker 4:
1:36:43
That's fair. That's fair, phil. Well, actually, jay, actually, phil Phil, phil Phil. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I was thinking because you like to go down and just go, yes, no, I was thinking because you like to go down and just go. Yes, no.
Speaker 1:
1:36:58
And I was like maybe I should let Jay go, but maybe it'll help.
Speaker 4:
1:36:59
Yeah, phil, you like to go down, you do a good recap.
Speaker 3:
1:37:01
I'm a giver.
Speaker 4:
1:37:06
Val Kilmer. Sorry, that was a crazy comment. Sissy holes, sorry. I'm leaving, no sorry, right now.
Speaker 3:
1:37:17
No, we still got the game. Really glad that we finally, that we finally watched the top gun movies last year and that scene in top gun maverick was making the rounds with val kilmer and it is great did you guys watch willow?
Speaker 1:
1:37:30
has anybody seen willow? It was a great val kilmer role yeah, I've seen.
Speaker 3:
1:37:34
It was a long time ago but yeah, I've seen've seen Willow. Yeah, the Minecraft movie, madness Tangled, snow White Shout out to my girl, rachel Zegler, she did it inside. Ancient Got those movies cancelled. Dune 3, robert Pattinson Sweet Chainsaw man movie coming out. Awesome, king of the Hill revival Fuck yeah. Titanfall 3. Fuck yeah. And Epic Universe uh, I don't think it's gonna be as hard to get in. I saw tickets available on groupon the other day, so maybe we can go to epic universe sooner than we thought okay, are we?
Speaker 4:
1:38:08
are we gonna set uh plans? Are we gonna do this?
Speaker 3:
1:38:12
co-host party at epic. Some of the rides look pretty cool. Uh, that hotel is nuts.
Speaker 4:
1:38:18
Yeah, I mean, some of us won't be able to afford podcasting.
Speaker 3:
1:38:21
moving forward, not the hotel for sure, but I can make Epic Universe work. But it looks great. Shout out to some of the people we know. I don't know if we're allowed to say that they went, though, but some of the people we know went to Epic Universe.
Speaker 4:
1:38:36
You pretty much recapped everything. What about the Prey stuff?
Speaker 3:
1:38:39
Oh, yeah, Prey the Predator stuff that you've been seeing. Yeah, the animation looks incredible, so I love that we're at a point now where a lot of these big name IPs are comfortable putting out animated stuff, because it's just getting better and better.
Speaker 4:
1:38:51
So, yeah, yeah and Jay, that was a little recap.
Speaker 5:
1:38:58
Anything out of that that you wanted to uh to chime in on yeah, pretty much predator. Hell. Yeah, I like prey, I'm excited for good predator movies again. Um, after the disgrace that we went through um a decade ago or whatever that was, um robert pattinson and dune fits, I'm excited titanfall 3 to happen. Don't get your hopes up, stop it.
Speaker 1:
1:39:19
Jay, stop it right now. Let us have this, Jay.
Speaker 5:
1:39:22
I'm so sorry everybody. I'm so sorry, but I will be glad. I will be so happy to be so wrong someday. But yeah, not keeping my hopes up.
Speaker 4:
1:39:33
Damn. That's understandable, jay. I was curious what did you unplug? Are you pretending to use the headphones on your head? I've been wondering for like an hour and a half, so I just thought I'd ask. These are wireless headphones.
Speaker 5:
1:39:50
These can plug into my headphones and into my computer, but I need to futz with things while I podcast, and so this is my object of choice um yeah, I was just asking, that's all.
Speaker 4:
1:40:01
I was like what did he unplug? Yeah it came out of nowhere for me, sorry I I also have problems. Phil take over. I don't know what that was about.
Speaker 3:
1:40:13
I wasn't paying attention for a little bit. I don't know what that was about. I wasn't paying attention for a little bit.
Speaker 4:
1:40:17
I don't know. I didn't know how to transition. I'm sorry For the audio-only audience.
Speaker 3:
1:40:23
This is a good time to transition over to YouTube, if you'd like a visual representation of the questions last time around, I think. Well, last time all of you were on, we were doing Jeopardy, but we started switching it up to Kahoot and it's been a lot of fun. This will be the third go around, since I knew this was going to be a longer episode.
Speaker 3:
1:40:42
There's only 15 questions, but we'll see how it goes the first time around, kate, as I Kate dominated for representing for Game of Growns, eric won last month, so let's see how competitors do this time around Sissy Holes. I wonder who Sissy Holes could be, since everyone else is just going with their name.
Speaker 4:
1:41:09
Oh, hold on, I think I got to go back. What was the name that I chose last time?
Speaker 3:
1:41:14
I forgot. It's too late now I'm going to exit. I forgot the name. I know that you were the eagle, though what were you last time Start?
Speaker 4:
1:41:24
fresh. I'm going to tell you right now. You're going to pull up the episode? Yeah, I got to, because didn't I go on like a generational run you?
Speaker 3:
1:41:33
did do pretty well, so I would understand if you feel like you need to defend your crown with that with the same name.
Speaker 1:
1:41:43
He was just embarrassed by sissy holes.
Speaker 3:
1:41:46
Yeah, he didn't want to commit fully.
Speaker 4:
1:41:49
I mean a little bit.
Speaker 1:
1:41:52
Yeah.
Speaker 4:
1:41:52
Explain how the game works.
Speaker 1:
1:41:53
Emily's never coming back after this.
Speaker 3:
1:41:58
For those of you that do not know, has everybody here done a Kahoot?
Speaker 1:
1:42:03
I have done one Kahoot, I've Kahooted.
Speaker 3:
1:42:06
Okay, I have not there are going to be a few different types of questions here, so there's going to be multiple choice. There'll be ones where you type in your answer. There'll be ones called a slider, where there will be a moving scale that you will adjust on. Oh, benedict Eagle, okay, that you will adjust on. I can't remember why that came up, but there'll be a slider on your phone that will adjust. So, say, like, the question is how many Jurassic Park slash world movies there are, and it'll be somewhere between five and 15, and you'll just move your slider along on your and it'll be somewhere between five and 15. And you'll just move your slider along on your phone. There'll be one question where you have to pin your answer on a photo and that you'll see it's pretty self-exclamatory. And then the last one is true or false. So 15 questions you get, the more of the quicker you answer, the more points you get. And then so you are encouraged to answer quickly.
Speaker 3:
1:42:59
I'm pretty sure all of them. You have 30 seconds to answer, oh, and then there's one more game where you put things in order. So you'll put things so, for example, when did this movie come out? And you'll put the instructions will be listed on the screen. So Eric's favorite game is Slider. So there's nine of those this month. Oh, eric's favorite game is Slider.
Speaker 5:
1:43:17
So there's nine of those this month.
Speaker 4:
1:43:19
Oh, great, awesome. There's that, alright, everybody here, I'm also 1-0 as Benedict Eagle, so no pressure, that is true.
Speaker 3:
1:43:27
And this specific bird and wig. So let's see how it goes. Alright, let's get started. These are all pop culture questions. A Kahoot by the Wait For it podcast. What did I miss? April 2025. Here we go. Question number one is multiple choice. It's a quiz. What is the name of the dragon species that Toothless belongs to in how to Train your Dragon? Is it Night Terror, night Shade Night, fury Night?
Speaker 5:
1:44:00
Stalker. A bit too swift. How dare you accuse me of that Kahoot?
Speaker 3:
1:44:10
I should have put this on my other screen because I can't see you guys. Alright Night, fury, everybody got that right. Good job, let's see. Let's check the scoreboard, okay, andrew took some time there. At least you got it right.
Speaker 4:
1:44:27
Oh, sissy Holes is at zero. Oh, that's right, I forgot I can't move the whole.
Speaker 3:
1:44:33
I can't move just this over.
Speaker 4:
1:44:34
I gotta move the whole thing yeah, you don't need to see us.
Speaker 1:
1:44:35
It'll be fine, they're remaking how to Train your Dragon. There we go. They're doing a live action for that too why?
Speaker 3:
1:44:43
Why we don't need to talk about that. Okay, let me close this out, all right.
Speaker 1:
1:44:48
Next question we have a true or false?
Speaker 3:
1:45:11
The Witcher 3 is the Last of Us, part 2 so, but it was it was a really excellent game.
Speaker 5:
1:45:16
Yeah, part 2 is what I thought it was going to be. I was like what game can actually beat it? I was like, yeah, yeah, that makes sense.
Speaker 3:
1:45:23
All right, let's check the scoreboard. Oh, Sissy Holes is still in here. I didn't even notice that. Yeah, I caught that out. I was like whoops.
Speaker 4:
1:45:32
It's fine. It better though.
Speaker 3:
1:45:34
Alright Benedict. Eagle moves into the lead. Okay, next question, just type out the answer. What movie is this? A photo will slowly reveal itself. Fuck. So, for those of you listening, there is a picture slowly revealing itself on the screen.
Speaker 2:
1:45:53
What the fuck is this? What is that it's so pixelated? What is that? What the fuck is this? What is that it's so pixelated? What is that? What are you?
Speaker 1:
1:46:03
I don't know if I'll know this at all.

Speaker 5:
1:55:32
Oh, there you go. I appreciate the explanation. I was like that wasn't Assassin's Creed 3.

Speaker 1:
1:56:13
It's Tommy.
Speaker 3:
1:56:15
T-O-N-N-Y. I know that's not true. That would be Angelica.
Speaker 5:
1:56:16
Is this for the actual millennials? Here it's Tommy. I know that's not true that would be Angelica.
Speaker 2:
1:56:19
Is this for the actual millennials?

Speaker 4:
1:56:25

Speaker 5:
1:56:30

Speaker 1:
1:56:30

Speaker 3:
1:56:33
I put in two acceptable names.
Speaker 4:
1:56:35
Oh, thank God. Which one is it?
Speaker 3:
1:56:37
IE. I didn't know that. I thought it was C-H-E-C-K-Y but, I, did put both because I knew people would put Y, so that's okay. Cool, I got so scared. I got everybody covered Okay.
Speaker 1:
1:56:46
Chuckie.
Speaker 3:
1:56:47
Finster, afraid of everything, all right.
Speaker 2:
1:56:52
Okay, about a thousand away, amazing. Yeah, it's not great, but it's better.
Speaker 3:
1:56:56
There is a fight for third place. Let's see what happens here. I don't know that you can get a thousand points. I don't even. What is the last question. I think it's a quiz. I'm pretty sure it's a quiz.
Speaker 4:
1:57:06
Can Jay get negative?
Speaker 3:
1:57:08
No, it's not Change the rules, yep, just a quiz. Which of these characters is not one of the three main protagonists in Grand Theft Auto V? Franklin Clinton, michael DeSanta, tommy Vercetti or Trevor Phillips? Who is not one of the main characters in GTA V?
Speaker 5:
1:57:25
I'm getting negative points on that.
Speaker 2:
1:57:28
Definitely watched my husband play this sometimes.
Speaker 1:
1:57:32
I lived in this game for at least a couple years.
Speaker 2:
1:57:34
Sure, alright, you've got to be kidding me, look at that, emily's killing it with the guesses.
Speaker 1:
1:57:46
Alright, let's take the podium. Third place, Andrew 5,814.
Speaker 3:
1:57:51
Second place Benedict Eagle Unable to defend his crown. It was close and in first place with 8,976, about 1,000 more than second place is Jay.
Speaker 5:
1:58:03
Okay, you don't have to ask no, I think it's important.
Speaker 3:
1:58:07
It's a massive gap between first and second. That's crazy.
Speaker 1:
1:58:10
My favorite part is that Sissy Holes was around for the whole thing, the whole thing yep.
Speaker 3:
1:58:17
You did a great job, Alright, everybody. Give yourselves a round of applause. Great job by everybody. Alright, and there it is. There's Kahoot. Thanks for playing, everybody. You're welcome Again the Fast and the Furious question. Who saw that coming?
Speaker 5:
1:58:34
I did and I forgot to study. I forgot to study.
Speaker 3:
1:58:38
I'm going to change it up next time. Different, fast and the Furious characters, those are all main characters.
Speaker 4:
1:58:44
I can go very obscure, I'll make my own list, the next one he's going to be like, pinpoint this make and model of the vehicle that has shown up in the Fast and the Furious movies.
Speaker 3:
1:58:55
I can figure something out. I'm going to put in a Fast and the Furious question, every single. I'm just going to change it up from the pin. Your answer to just a Fast and the Furious question.
Speaker 4:
1:59:03
If I get a slider, fast and Furious question, I will fucking, I will sock you. The next time I see you I'll think of them.
Speaker 3:
1:59:11
But Emily, Andrew, Jay, thank you all so much for coming on this episode and allowing us to even up the odds as far as the Super Racket Bros Cinematic Universe. What Did I Miss Is Go. Please let our audience know what everybody is up to. We'll start with Jay, as we are in the cusp of Super Racket Bros returning. Please let everybody know what you're up to and when and where we can find it.
Speaker 5:
1:59:33
Yeah, absolutely. You can find me anywhere. You find podcasts. So that's going to spotify apple etc. Um, super bracket bros, we're working on season seven. Season seven is going to be all street level fighters. I didn't even I mean we had a street level tournament, but we're going no weapons, this is all martial artists. So think your favorite fighting game, street fighter tekken. Think your favorite kung fu movies, wuxia movies, things like that. Those are the characters that we're pulling from. We're going to be pitting them against each other and finding out who is the best of the best of the 16 fighters. The 16 are set.
Speaker 5:
2:00:11
The first episode, the sort of preview episode, will be coming out somewhere around mid-May. So stay tuned to the Super Bracket Bros feed for that. We would love to have you come over and give us a listen. You'll hear very many familiar voices. So if you enjoy the WayForward podcast, I think you'll enjoy Super Bracket Bros Always a great time. But thank you guys so much for having me on again and I'm happy to walk away not only a jeopardy winner but a kahoot winner and end the reign of benedict eagle. Um, so I so happy and we. We killed the wheel for one episode at least, and that's. I'm more excited about that at the end of this.
Speaker 3:
2:00:52
I'm gonna put in a credit where the wheel will return at the end of it. So yeah, I can't wait as far as that. And yeah, sorry, roman Reigns was a tool during the week of WrestleMania.
Speaker 5:
2:01:08
We had to pivot. Yes, yeah, I was about to post the poll to figure out what the seating was going to be 1 through 16. I had Roman Reigns in there and then he was like I think Trump's an all right guy. I was like you're out of here, brother, you're fucking out of here.
Speaker 3:
2:01:24
Um yeah yeah, good times, good stuff, andrew. Uh, what's going on on your end and with friendly neighborhood gamers?
Speaker 1:
2:01:34
Uh well, let's see. If you like video game talk, then we've got that for you. We have a podcast and we have had everybody on this show on our podcast to talk about their gaming history and lives and preferences, so you can definitely go check those episodes out. We also have a youtube channel where we've been trying to branch out with the content that we do over there as far as breaking out like segments from some of our podcast episodes trying to preview upcoming games, review, um, lesser known, smaller kind of indie titles, getting review codes ahead of launch, that kind of thing, um. So if you enjoy video game conversations, we've got that for you.
Speaker 1:
2:02:13
Like Phil alluded to a little bit earlier, we have some assassin's creed content in the planning phase currently, but it's just been a crazy time for video games right now, so we are still working on getting that recorded, but there's already been a few wait for it crossovers and collaborations this year already, so definitely go check those out if you're looking for a place to start coming from this show. And and yeah, thank you guys for having me. This has been a ton of fun.
Speaker 3:
2:02:40
Absolutely Can't wait for those episodes to come out. Emily, unfortunately we don't get to collab a whole lot, so whenever you and Cade get to come on, it is just so much fun, so we are so happy you're here today. I know Game of Thrones just had a milestone.
Speaker 2:
2:03:00
So what's going on over there with y'all and where can our audience find you? No, thank you. It's always nice to even though it's kind of one-sided at this point, to hang out. So, yeah, kind of weird this Tuesday, as of recording, the last canon episode of Game of Thrones has released.
Speaker 2:
2:03:19
It's a podcast where I had never seen Game of Thrones and I was fairly spoiler free and decided what the hell, I'll make a podcast about watching it and for the first time and whatever. And so my sister Kate joined on Rotterdam season three as a quote unquote expert and so, yeah, we did all of Game of Thrones that ended last year. And then we decided to do Dragon House, the two seasons that are out, and we just did the season finale with Jay on Tuesday. It released on Tuesday and so we're kind of up in the year. We'll probably do one like recap, final bonus episode just to talk about everything.
Speaker 2:
2:03:59
Now that we can look at anything, it's amazing to be spoiler free. I'm kind of numb right now because I don't know, like, what to do. We do have a plan for another podcast because there is currently nothing else Game of Thrones out there to do, but we're probably going to take the summer off, but if you guys want to do Game of Thrones things, it's called Game of Growns. We've been doing it since 2019. And yeah, so that's all we've got right now. But if you follow, you know, the Instagram, or mostly the Instagram, honestly, game of Growns pod. When Kate and I start working on the next one, that will be also where we post it, so you guys can see what we're up to as well.
Speaker 3:
2:04:45
Yep, and, as always, everything will be in the show notes of this episode, so you can find everybody that you've heard here today. The last bit of news, eric, that just dropped is Sidney Sweeney will be in the Split Fiction movie, which is a story I covered last month over on what I Missed. So how fitting is it that that dropped here this evening.
Speaker 4:
2:05:06
That's like breaking news in the Discord that movie's going to be outstanding.
Speaker 3:
2:05:09
Can't wait to see it.
Speaker 4:
2:05:10
Did we know that John Chu was directing it?
Speaker 3:
2:05:12
I don't think we did no, and John Chu from Wicked and, of course, in the Heights, is directing.
Speaker 3:
2:05:18
So, yeah, anyway, like I said, you can find all of our friends in the show notes of this episode. Please make sure you continue to support and check out everybody in the Super Racket Bros Cinematic Universe and also head on over to Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Leave those five-star reviews. It is so very helpful to everybody and in terms of algorithm and all that behind the scenes stuff that we don't really truly understand but we pretend to. But also make sure you follow us over on social media for the way for a podcast, that includes Instagram tick tock, our, our growing discord page. We post now on YouTube as well, and we're streaming a bunch on Twitch Now. Usually those are scheduled, but we've been popping on from time to time as far as some surprise streams as well. So if you find yourself wanting to maybe get a little bit more from the podcast, if you are in the position to do so, eric will let you know a little bit more about that before we head out for the evening.
Speaker 4:
2:06:10
Yeah, and the way you can do that is on Patreon, which we are growing every single month on that platform Thanks to patrons of the show Briar, stefan T3, kato, vintage macaroni, corey from the world is my burrito. And Nick Casparo, the author of the vidalarium series, uh, who will be the next episode after this one for the month of April. So make sure to check out that episode of creator spotlight and we are very much appreciative to them. In return for their gratitude, we're going to go ahead and give them the behind the scenes, the early access, the extra content.
Speaker 4:
2:06:46
We did a vlog for Collective Con Bold Matsuri is right around the corner and we are going to do something very similar for that to show some of the convention experience from our point of view.
