We are live this morning from St. Augustine, 29 minutes past eight o'clock and, of course, if you're like me and your big Jaguars fan, very disappointed, very sad morning about six weeks ago with a 99% chance of making the playoffs and somehow found a way not to make the playoffs, and Dr. Koren and myself we were talking off the air about how sometimes that points to a leadership problem or a lack thereof. Dr. Michael Koren of course, medical doctor and, of course, heads up the show ENCORE Research Group. He's also a cardiologist and a research scientist as well, and we're gonna talk about some clinical medical, clinical trial opportunities that you could perhaps get involved with as well. Dr. Koren, good morning. And how about leadership right?
Michael J. Koren:
1:12
Yeah, good morning. Good morning, it was a rough game to watch yesterday. Yes, leadership is key for any organization, Kevin, and at the end of the day, it comes down to certain circumstances, and are you prepared for those circumstances? So, again a little football technical. Yesterday the Jaguars had the ball on third down, one yard to go for a possible tying touchdown if they got the two point conversion, and they didn't seem to know what the best play was to run under those circumstances, you think about it. What should your leaders do? They should be thinking about all the different situations and when you get to that critical situation you should know exactly what to do and you should have an innovative solution. But we saw the exact opposite of that. The first play on third down was to sort of leisurely have Trevor Lawrence stroll to the right and hope that somebody would get open, knowing that that play never works. And then on the fourth down, they're a little bit too far away from the goal line for the Lawrence league to work and of course they came up a few inches short and to me that was a reflection of lack of leadership. And I'm happy to say that these are things that I personally thought about for our organization and we've addressed those at the ENCORE group so that when it comes to third and one, we will have the solution for you.

Well indeed, when people are engaged in participating in clinical trials, you know leading edge medicine. Of course you're gonna get great healthcare and potentially some compensation too, but you know you wanna make sure that you are having good healthcare and that people are staying on top of, of what's going on with the whole process. You definitely get that vibe when you work with ENCORE Research Group.
Michael J. Koren:
2:58
Totally. Totally. To give you some specific examples, I'm actually driving into the office right now. My first patient is somebody that participated in the clinical trial and was concerned that she may have had a side effect from one of the medications, but she also had some stomach problems. So,my job is going to be going in and figuring out whether or not this is related to the study medication or if this is related to her other medical issues, which is quite important and for the patient, she's in a situation where she'll have somebody like me, who's expert in the area, to assess this and help her make a good decision. At the end of the day, she can decide not to participate in the study if she likes, but she should have all the information. I should be able to ask her a series of questions and ascertain whether or not it's in her best interest to keep on moving ahead with the program or whether or not she should take a break from the program. In our St. Augustine site, like all of our ENCORE sites we have eight sites around the state of Florida we have a Medical Director who's a physician with a lot of experience. It's actually Dr. Richard Myers in St. Augustine who's been in our community for decades, I know clinical research backwards and forwards is a kind, caring physician and knows how to run clinical trials. And then we have Dr. Valerie Hayes, who's our site manager, who is a PhD and she has a lot of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and running sites, but she's the non-physician director. So we have two incredibly impressive people that can help patients navigate what they should do on third down, with one yard to go for a touch now.
Kevin Geddings:
4:36
Yeah, which may not involve just jumping over the top of a pile and hoping for the best. Well, myself, Karen on our team here at WSOS and others that we know, of course, are participating and have participated in leading edge clinical trials with ENCORE Research Group here in St. John's County. Of course, ENCORE Research Group office is located very close to UF Flagler Hospital, off of 312 in US.1 in St. Augustine. You can call and learn more about available trials that you could participate in. You can also go to the website ENCOREdocs. com. That's ENCOREdocs. com, the phone number here locally in St. John's County, 904-730-0166. That number again, punch it into your phone, 904-730-0166. I know Dr. Koren in the car riding into the office, but before we let you go, talk to us about Med Evidence especially. Maybe it's a New Year's resolution for some folks to maybe rely on more accurate healthcare information, right?
Michael J. Koren:
5:35
Yeah, MedE vidence is another example of providing leadership. So in medicine, again like in football, sometimes there's a debate about what's the best play, what's the best scenario, how do you respond to certain circumstances? And what we do in MedE vidence is we run down all the different scenarios and we have experts discuss them and help people understand what is the best solution for you. So it's another way of applying leadership, not to say that there's one right answer for every scenario, but rather there are a series of correct answers and by understanding the whole situation, people can make a good decision for their benefit and the benefit of their family and their loved ones. So we would strongly recommend that people MedEvidence the platform and get a lot of objective information. We use the tagline it's the "Truth Behind the Data.
Kevin Geddings:

And indeed check out that website. It's very easy to access, it's very intuitive and easy for you to use and hopefully you'll help us get the word out too by sharing that web address with other folks, with friends and family and others MedEvidence .com. That's MedEvidence. com. Dr. Koren, good luck today and this week and we'll talk with you soon, okay.
Michael J. Koren:

Sounds great, Kevin, have a great week.
