It's Dr. Michael Koren, medical doctor, cardiologist, research scientist and a big part of our family here at WSOS and we appreciate him especially taking time out today adding a little international flair for us. I am. I'm at the European Society of Cardiology meeting, and this is now the biggest medical meeting in the world.

You can hear the European sirens in the background. That's pretty good. Someone passed out in a meeting because it's so crowded.

So what's the buzz? I mean, if we're going back to your days of maybe writing for the high school newspaper, what would be the headline coming out of this European medical convention?
Dr. Michael Koren:

Well, there are a lot of different headlines, but the thing that interested me most I think could be arguably the biggest headline is all the excitement around the treatments that are on the horizon for lipoprotein( a). As you know, that's a form of bad cholesterol that's particularly dangerous, and it's a form of bad cholesterol that we have not had a treatment for, but that all should change within the next year. So there's a huge amount of excitement about medications that will shortly become available, a lot of speculation about the results of the clinical trials that, by the way, all of our folks in Northeast Florida are participating in and can still participate in.

Wow, Great opportunities there, and they can participate in that if they've been diagnosed. But there's also a fairly easy test that you can get to see if you have this particular heart issue right.
Dr. Michael Koren:

Absolutely. We're more than happy to provide, free of charge, a test for lipoprotein( a), which is a genetic type of cholesterol disorder, and if you have a family history of heart disease at an early age, say before the age of 65, I would certainly encourage you to get tested, either with us or someplace else, because not knowing is probably the worst thing you can do at this point, particularly with these new treatments on the horizon.

They absolutely love MedEvidence and actually the most fun part of this whole journey for me is I've been showing MedEvidence to people here in Europe and they love it. So I actually have met five to seven physicians here in Europe that want to be part of the MedEvidence family. So we'll be doing lots of podcasts in the near future based on people I've met here in Madrid at the European Society of Cardiology. So I'm super excited about it.
