What do Mother Theresa, human trafficking and Southwest Airlines have in common? Well, in this conversation with Kristin Keen, founder of Rethreaded, you’re about to find out.
I discovered Rethreaded a year ago at a “Local Influencers” pop-up closet event – kind of like a yard sale – but in a beautifully lit hotel ballroom, complete with champagne and delicate hors d’oeuvres. It was a place to see and be seen.
While I was browsing through racks of “gently used” trendy clothes, I noticed a small display tucked away in the corner of the ballroom: simple yet brightly colored infinity scarves made from discarded t-shirts and handmade leather bracelets crafted from airplane seat covers.
When I heard they were all created and sold by survivors of human trafficking - I couldn’t open my wallet fast enough!
As the woman at the booth - a survivor herself - proudly wrapped my purchase in a brown paper gift bag, she told me how, Rethreaded transforms women who basically feel like a useless and discarded piece of clothing into empowered women of worth.
You know how I love stories, and how eager I am to share – however, I’ll let Kristin tell us this one.
Rethreaded exists to renew hope, reignite dreams and release potential for survivors of human trafficking through business.
It’s a story of purpose, empowerment and healing, and it’s really good one. . .
