Ah, never seen that before. As he flips his hand and you see what looks to be like motions of almost like air in his hands and clashes against your hand and a shake and steam comes out of the very handshake and as such he waves it back with it brushing back from his hair almost fine and Tells y'all good luck, adventurers, and of course, do follow the map, and most of all, don't get lost.
As he spins away in what looks like a gust of wind, and his dog jumps through another blue jagged portal.
Is he the man who read the map? Salthorn thought you manned with logic. Nero sighs and holds out his hand. He's used to reading maps because he has to use them to bounty hunt. He unrolls the map, takes a look at it, kinda looks around the forest a little bit, kinda looks back at it, and sighs, realizes that even with a map, the Feywild is still really confusing.
Please hand it to us. Please hand You can't even speak the Common Tongue very well. I have actually been holding back my wisdom from you mortals. Please hand it. I shall show you the truth. Nero's killing. Rolls the map back up. Sarhan opens it up. Okay, we need to go north at ten degrees. Yep. And we will head that way.
Alright. And so as such, as you all proceed onwards, we will I'm gonna roll some encounters. Hopefully, if nothing happens, if there's a certain high number I reach, something may, may happen, but it will be random, so God knows what you may or may not encounter. God's know? God's know, that's what I said.
Yes. Okay. Okay. So that concludes So, as you guys are walking through what now looks to be a nice big field of grass, but underneath is almost like like earthy canyons with holes and depths with much more blue misty fogs almost flowing through and even sounds of water running through a distance that you're not quite sure where it leads to, but it is there and it is flowing, as they say.
And as you guys continue onwards to your adventure and continuing to find it in front of you appears to be a gushing well. As it appears in front of you, it looks to be a well with With almost green moss growing of a dark grey stone pillared foundation and no overhead made of wood, just stone pillards in a circle with moss growing on the side and it is there just popped right out and you look on the map and you don't remember seeing what looks to be a well on the foundations of it. See? I knew you couldn't read that map. Well, you went the wrong way. You didn't listen. I said ten degrees south. You said north. It's a trick. Get an axe. Honestly, I have to agree with Opey. Axe it is. As that happens, I'll have y'all roll me a survival check. Please. Thank you.
Oh, and remember Guidance, you can D4, you can add a D4 to someone's roll if you want. That's what Guidance does. Yeah, that's the triangle die. You get a 5. Survival should be near the bottom, it's basically the last one on the list. Oh, okay. It's alphabetically ordered. Got it. That helps you keep that going.
Oh, thank you. So I got a plus 6, so 11. And then I guess I don't know the number I need to hit. Well, so when you do a survival check, you don't, a check, you still don't throw out the number we need, do you? Basically, not until we either know if we passed or not. And he doesn't necessarily have to. Gotcha.
Right. So what's your roll? So I'm a 5 plus 6, I'm 11. Alright, would you like to use guidance on that? I know it's already done, but I'll make the exception. Basically, you can add a d4, it's the triangle. Yeah. You can roll the triangle. Yes, right. You can get that one. The caltrop looking triangle.
Yep. I got an 18. Yay! How many times can you use guidance? Oh, so three? It's a cantrip. So cantrips, anything that's listed as a cantrip, you can use infinitely. Spells, there are, there's a listed amount of spell slots that you have to use. I saw the spells page on the back. Total, okay. That's twelve, is it?
Yeah. Noted. Okay. That said and done. As you guys look around and you clasp your axe into this stone well the thing breaks in the middle chipping it, almost in a V shaped pattern, jagged of age and, being held by nature, pretty much and as you guys are looking around your surroundings as well out pops what looks to be a purplish what's the size, small Looking fey with pointed ears.
Otherwise known as There we go. A boggle. Big yellow eyes that he looks at all of ya. And he's speaking some kind of gibberish. But on your language sheet, if you understand Sylvan you can understand what he says. Right up here in this box. Yep. Me. Okay, noted. Me as well. Yeah, me too. He said just Sylvan.
Yes. I do not know. Yeah. So to you it sounds like courage, the dog and a, aquatic courage. The dog gets taken over by chaos. Dean's got . Yeah. As he's just kind of like, oh I had to say, wow, I've been running for a bit of, to drop some gold down here and now I just kind of got ruined that, and no one's gonna really walk towards here.
Ah, this prank's ruined. Ah. But, what what brings you guys over, anyway? What do you mean, yapping? I, I, I, well, clearly you understand me, but this What, what, what is that thing, anyway? Is it, uh Uh, what, no, no. No, no.
In real life, though, he would try to set up someone like that, so you know. I'll backtrack it, though, so I can get it. Oh Voyager. He's a, he's a cyder, right? Yeah, he's a, he's a chubby, chubby guy. He, he tends to prank me cool, but I, I think I prank Bob better. Especially when people slip on the little oil puddles that I tend to make from time to time.
And, I, I, I sometimes manage to go into a nice little pocket hole portals call it, and I tend to, to, to take things, cause it's very, very fun to see someone chase and catch their, their precious goods, yes. I have an idea. I think that maybe I might be able to convince our new Friend, oh maybe a butter 'em up.
Tell his pranks are amazing, oh, and hopefully get some better information about where to go. I, I think, I think your, I think your pranks sounded really good. I'm sorry that this thunderhead over here ruined it. Ah, man. Our ones are so serious. Like the often cousins from the. He, he tends to be a hothead, especially the, the summer albatrons.
Before, right? A couple times us. Yeah. Yeah. Like what do you think that us, us normal world dwellers would just absolutely love to see that, that, you know, you shy, that are, that are that Farran rent would not want us to see Uhhuh. Wow. Wow. That that was a. A huge glowing piece within here of hither that was made by the pumpkin king, but I don't think it fits your pockets, no.
But it is a lovely piece to get. But, I, I, I, I can't go there, no, no, because there's, there's these red looking monsters that Scare me a buckle and my buckle buckle buckle boppers and The red and pointed teeth monsters. They're about my size They carry weapons, but buckle look at look at opay.
Look at that guy Doesn't he look even scarier? I mean, I, I bet. He's very tall, yes. Yeah, yeah. And I feel like he can run at any second, but thankfully he doesn't understand what we're saying. I'm a really long coat, he's still the one snookin at me. Huh, his eyes are like He, he thinks that you're very ferocious looking, and, and he thinks that you are probably a great fighter.
And while, while you're kind of buttering him up a little bit, he takes out a meal from his backpack, and like, just absolutely, Bites the head off and whips it off. So if you, like, imagine like, what you do with crawfish, right? Fishtails suck the head. Fishtails, fish tails suck the head. But also, like, you just hear the crunch.
Because like, eels are basically as you might, or may not know, bones. Many bones. More than snakes. So you just hear, just, Grrr. Grrr. Grrr. Grrr. Grrr. Grrr. Grrr. Grrr. Nero's like, Grrr. flinches slightly, but he's trying to remain, like, keep his composure, you know, he doesn't want to upset him. Is this just a normal thing for him?
Oh. Wow. Well, I will say that, but also, if you do happen to find them, there's another one of these kind of floating in the market here, and they tend to have these little, little websters called the Witherwebs. That tend to inhabit it, but I managed to scare 'em out and I managed to own this well, or about a loose couple deaths, couple nights.
It's been a good while. Yes, I'm searching around for something with weight. A rock or stick or, oh, yeah. Roll Me is searching for something. Investigation team
plus 6 25. 25? Okay, as you're looking around the grass as this boggle is just yapping about to these two here you're looking around and you find a couple of stones, at least about, give or take, six stones with carvings made into them and with your passive investigation analyzing these carvings on the stones you realize these stones that are carved onto them are used to make fairy rings.
I don't know, it's not really what I needed, but But they're highly valuable to note. They're used to make fairy rings? Fairy rings, yes.
I've gathered the fairy rings and I was like, I just don't want them. But, I put them Like with the map, the second map, and I walk over to the, well, the people and see if I can see the bottom. As you look down on the bottom it looks like a endless, vast in there. But if you drop something like, say a torch or something of light cast onto a item and chop said stone with the light spell on there.
You may be able to see how deep it is. Oh, yes, yes. That's where all Boggle's belongings are, yes. I have my favorite rock. I have a favorite of pieces of hair that I got from a witch. She doesn't know it yet, but it's, it's, it's a fine gold strand. That I, I, I climb up and down. And I think back up below is about 20 foot tall.
Slide a hand. Just real quick slide. A hand is used for stealing, right? Yes. Usually Can I use, slide a hand on him? proceed. It'll have to be his passive perception, which is a one lemon. Yeah, it's a. Passive perception roll perception. Make it passive perception. So do I gotta roll higher than 11? Yes. And then I wanna use guidance, of course.
Sure. 19. I guess I don't. So we're trying to nab from Karuk here. I want his map. I want one of the maps, and I want the stone. One of the stones. One stone. So one of the maps, and one of the stones. Yeah, because there's only a certain amount of weight you can like, take at one time. Yeah, that's true. So that should be it.
Within reason. Okay, so yeah, one map and then one stone. Okay since there are two things you know, it is a high roll anyway, so I the shell is not a rule. Yeah, no. That's part of it. And honestly. Your fingers are not going to survive if you try to take that shit out of my mouth. Yes as such while Karuk is looking down on the well and seeing how deep it is, talking to Bagul, who is, you know, very small and standing on, like, the still up and standing well, you managed to nab not only one of the maps granted to the party, but also one of the, Carved stones used for fairy rings.
So I'm gonna go play an elf. Stick with me. Neroz makes a face like, why? Why am I stuck with this idiot? You sure you don't think hungry? I mean, I already ate, but if you're really stuck in the food, I can tell you where to find this large owl. Pumpkin. Okay. Is he actually speaking common now or, well, he is speaking to them three.
Yeah. 'cause like you just, what he says is that if you, he's already eaten, but if you choose to give him food, he'll show us way to a en large pumpkin, ah, pumpkin. That, that might be worth some good money back in our world. Say wild pumpkin. Mm-Hmm. Love me some pumpkin bar. Yeah. That's, that's quite, that's one.
Made by the pumpkin king tends to be a life force in this part of the feral isle. And as he's saying that you watch as he like kind of, because he, being a turtle, he's got kind of stubby fingers, like everything about him is kind of stubby, but in a sort of like, because you know like turtles are almost like, obviously they don't have the same thing as elephant feet, but you kind of get the idea.
Yeah, it's kind of like three appendages. It's a little bit like stubby here. He just kind of like You just hear, as he like reaches into where he had ripped off the head of the eel and you like see his fist ball up inside of it to where he just like rips the entire rest of the skeleton out. But, he does so in a manner that the skeleton is surprisingly clean of any meat inside.
So as such, he hands the rest of it off to him. Ooh, what the fuck is this? It's a eel. . Oh. Oh, that's wild. He, he, he says that it's eel and it tastes really good, that it is a delicacy in our world. And he begins to like b the rest of the skeleton between his fingers. I'll never have something like this perform and then kind of like, almost like a popcorn curly, he just flicks it up into the air and just that balled up skeleton, you can hear him crunch it between his teeth.
Wow. Thanks. And this is happening. Thanks. Thank you. Thanks Are kind fault. But us has as promised You're not allowed to make that sound anymore, Luke. I'm taking that off the table. But it's been a good while since I had a good meal. But us has as promised Look all that way. That's where your family is.
The, the, the, the grown pumpkin. Yes. Ah, that's quite a delight to see. And quite a light. Ho, ho, ho, ho, ho. Yes. I light it. Do, do, do. And drop it down the well. Oh, oh, okay. There it goes. Oh, and there's my stuff. I'm fine. Wow. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. All and the little one was pointing where that big old pumpkin is.
Yeah. Yes. Yes he was. Wow. He's like rubbing his hands together. Like one of 'em is still very much covered in blood in world . I am honestly very surprised that you're even interested in a vegetable. Oh, well I was around as I try to, some was intrigued by that turtle as he kind of climbs down into the Well, okay.
And thank you, Bugle. Bugle, Bugle, Bugle, Bugle, Bugle. It goes down to the dark side. Can I set his home on fire before we leave?
Nero just throws his arm back, you know, he does. He does like the mom in the front seat, like maneuver, like, like, Oh, no. Well, since we can't set Bob goes home on fire. Bobble Bobble. The Ray of Frost.
What is wrong with y'all? We're in a place we don't understand. You don't need him anymore. He's just a chaotic, neutral guy. You don't know what you could unleash. He's just a silly, not little guy. But he might not be. He might be a silly, not little guy. He could also be conspiring with the Pumpkin King. He could be.
That's why you just delete 'em and they're sending us into a trap. Mm-Hmm, . Okay. Well, you guys are making logical sense, man. The Fay wild is just, we're going messing with my head. To me, it just seems we too convenient to find this world. That's, I didn't tell you this Opec and this, I didn't tell you this.
I apologize, friend. He took froggy . I, I, I'll do you unironically say he took froggy. I can't believe that. I, I apologize, Fred. He took froggy. Near Oz puts his head. His hands on his temples. Watch this, watch this, watch this top one. Right, so I'm like, ah! No! Give me Froggy! Oh boy, you hate him. He says he wants froggy.
I don't know what the froggy is. You better tell him something. He said forget you about your froggy. He's done malicious things. Oh my god. He's going to make dueling persuasion checks. I don't know what I'm doing right now. As he As he As he He's going to use boggle oil as he slips out of the grip of the tortle and he starts like hopping around like, ah, ah, ah, as it goes into like the, the, the faywells for a screens mist.
Kind of looks at his hand a little bit, seeing the oils, what, what does it look like? Let's see, it says here doesn't really say much, but from what it entails, it's like a black, like oil goo. And it's very slippery. And with that he kind of like takes out like one of his torches from his backpack.
Yeah, and it's non flammable. Oh.
I mean, he could just say that. Yeah, I would assume it has a sage who would have like some study stuff. So yeah, you now have a small bottle, vial if you will, of boggle oil. And with what? Little bit He didn't get left of it. He licks his open palm . Just kind of curious because, and a great, so it could have potentially been a trap for the pumpkin laid by the pumpkin king, but now he is most definitely going to run back.
Tell the pump king that we tried to kill him. O Okay then we, we get you froggy for sure now and we get pumpkin. From what I'm hearing, you made me grab. Possibly, friend. Forgive, Saurhorn. Sometimes Saurhorn don't think. Sometimes Saurhorn burn. Sometimes Saurhorn Saurhorns. Or you're raised by barbarians. I won't be stupid, but I'll eat again.
I'm starting to think Saurhorn has multiple personalities. I believe it's called DRD action. Mm-Hmm. . But do I know what this Bogle Oil does? It says we saw this one the one that he used to get out of the, the grass. It is a slippery substance. There's other different types of oil that a bogle can produce.
Everything from slippery to sticky and of course making divisional ribs, but not with the oil, but just. It's natural ability. But otherwise it gets, it can be sticky and it's slippery. Okay. And what he poured out of his pores was the slippery oil. So yeah, the slippery area. We may want to make haste before we get a, before Boggle can tip off the pumpkin king.
And speaking of which roll me perception. I'll do it. Why not? If you two wish to rule perception. Oh, that's the 16, no, not 16, excuse me. That's 18. I say NA 20. I got a 16 guidance, not one. So 17, 13 and 18. You said perception. So I got plus six. All right. I specialize. So I got plus four, so I've got 17.
Roll the nap. 20 bri of the night. Yeah. All right. Out in the distance. almost about 50 feet away with looks like a shine of a telescope they managed to spot. You see what looks to be a, almost like a dark violet hooded figure with red horns sticking out. Familiar red horns? No red horns and a red face, like a red snout face with scales on it.
Looking at the four of you and realizes he's been spotted and vanishes off to the north. Alright guys, do I also see that with an 18? Yes. Looks like we've been spotted. Somebody's been watching us. I don't know if they're feeling it. I'll say we go after them. I think we should as well. They look dragon ish.
And as the sword speaks to you that buggle figure did mention some pointed teeth. or other red monsters that he encountered earlier. Yeah. He did, didn't he? What do you think I should do about that? I say follow north if that bugle mentions trouble happening north, such as that satyr did.
Is the, is the person they saw, was that to the north? Yeah. It was. He was going north. He was going north. Okay, well. He saw a snout and horns. To the north. And, okay. Horns all red. He was looking at us through some type of spying apparatus, I would say. And once I noticed him. He had some sort of fancy stick.
And once I noticed him, he took off quite quickly. Alright, well. I think that we, that's our only option right now. Let's go north. Alright. And such. As you guys continue on your journey, I'm realizing there is definitely more than meets the eye in the Feywild once again. And as you continue forward thankfully nothing happens, no occurrence.
Simple, straightforward path passing through flowing rivers mossy terrain, swamp like surroundings, and continuing onwards. And after such one more row here, okay. As you continue onwards for now there are at least what looks to be like yellow glowing orbs floating around.
Almost like fireflies in nature. Okay. Are they the size of fireflies too? Very tiny, yes. Tiny, okay.
Interesting. As you guys arrive, there looks to be a waterlogged battlefield. Okay. that you have stumbled upon. Looks to be that of almost the aftermath of a battle that may or may not have happened eons or years ago during the occurrence. But for those interested to learn more please do roll a history check or survival to determine the age.
Sorry. 30, 20. Oh. Thank you. So Dirty 20 just means that I rolled up to a total of a 20 without it being a natural 20. Gotcha. Eh, that was crap. Got it. 1 plus 4. I got 19 plus 4. Well, at least if we're going off survival I got that. If we're going off history I got A 17. I was going off of Well I'm gonna go off survival, cause that's better.
Either way, Natural 20. Crisp was bailed. You got another natural Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You're gonna hate yourself if you get caught. Freakin wizards. It's all going downhill. Alright, alright. So if I'm using history, it would be a 26, if survival is a 21. Yeah if you wish to use your history, which is higher please do entail so on and so forth.
Ch ch ch ch. Perfect.
Okay. That thing. Is that a 1? Yeah. Critical fail.
Alright. Just trying to find the note I wrote down for this particular small piece of lore for that of this waterlogged battlefield. It's almost like it's in it's own little swamp where like the lowest points of the dirt is where all the moisture is beginning to form, right? Okay. Like, there's the very beginnings of, like, reeds popping out of the ground, right?
Yes, yes, correct. The battlefield itself from what you can tell with its history, especially you being somewhat familiar with the Feywild you remember reading a legend of an old battle that happened many years ago between that of the native Fey and the monsters that inhabit in the Fey, such as the trolls.
That went into a grueling battle to claim Hither under their proper control. And such you look on the ground with your passive perceptions and see what looks to be, you know, large footprints what looks to be, like, talon feet and old weapons rusted away through the age that inside the Feywild is different to say the least.
So with that said and done, what do you do as you guys see this old battlefield? Try to still continue the search for anything valuable and hopefully find the supposed large pumpkin that the Boggle had mentioned earlier. Eight baby swabs. Not even enough to have any bit of minnows in it for a nice snack.
You know, you might find a fish with whiskers that be hiding down in the mud holes. Worth a look. Granted, probably not eating anything from here. I already hate fae. Can't imagine I'd like fae fish. Hmm. Niroskellen nods in recognition. Sarnhorn always agrees with logic. Don't worry, if we find fae fish We can sell 'em back in the real world.
I like the way you think fish from the, the fa wild, but it'll be a dead fish. I like big boys mix from the fa wild . There's, there's some rich king somewhere who wants to, to eat a fish from the fa wilds, like trying to sell an entire tomato-based fruit salad by calling it salsa. Are we, is maybe an. But, from the Feywild.
How many items from the Feywild? Somebody could taxidermy it and mount it above their fireplace. Alright, let's keep moving now. Okay. There are a lot of people looking at me like that. Usually means they want to hit me. I know Bob will be pointing us in the direction of the, this giant pumpkin. Does anyone see it around?
That's a good point. You can start looking around for it. And as such, as you do and as such do roll me investigation as you guys are now searching for the next clue. Negative one, my favorite. No, two. Eleven. Plus investigation. I don't think I got it. Oh, yeah, there it is. Oh, I got it. Twelve. I'm at twelve. Fourteen. Twenty five. Dammit, he's just doing all the good rolls. Right now. Noted, noted. As you guys are continuing with your investigations, you do successfully find what looks to be almost like pumpkin seeds. It's scattered in the field. And alongside that looks to be oddly small footprints with almost like talon nails at the top of where the toes would be.
Pretty much stamped leaving a footprint. Does, do the footprints look like they're staggered by like a bipedal, or are they quadriped like, like, like 2, 2, 2 legs or four legs? Can I tell how fresh they are with a survival check? Yeah. A small one, real quick. That one gap would have doubled in seeds. No, that's a 13. Not great. As such you guys, especially you, for example you can't really tell the age of, like, how recent the new footprints were. on the matter, but you do have some decent clues that pumpkin seeds were here and that something or someone was here and planted some pumpkin seeds in this field. And as such as you guys are continuing, suddenly there are sounds, oh, it sounds like, stumps, but kind of stops for a second.
I almost like wood stumps. With a couple of splashes rimmering on the back. And as such you turn around, and you see a stilt walker. Who happens to be, at least with passive perception, a hobgoblin. It's your brother, huh? Is it your brother? So it's not racist then it's racist to assume he's connected directly And as he speaks, and Sulvin what brings you all to the battlefield here?
I hate racism more. Besides, this one's alright.
Just went right for it. Have praise from the turtles. Hey, don't forget, he's a turtle. Excuse Maybe Hugo should let you speak. Yeah, just blank stare from me. Oh, he's speaking Sylvan. We're, we're on a We've been sent by Forager in the Red. To try and, Do you know of him? Oh, of course most of us here in the fwa know forage of the red.
Quite a sinful tune out of that goed float of his. And I, I, I tell you, he's a good lad. Good lad. Ah, good enough to hold up his head in the bottom to a degree. Yeah, sometimes he is a bit of a trickster, but he, as of recent seems very poised and serious, especially with all the recent stuff that's been happening here on the fade while.
Ah, that's why we're here. He gathered us against, through no agreement of our own, so to speak, to try and determine what's going on in this, in the Feywild. Yeah. As of late, there's been a couple areas of the Feywild that's been turning grey. Leaving a couple of folk petrified, turned to stone. Is it true?
originating in any particular area or patches, any type of pattern that we can discern? Some say it started spreading towards Thither, but only over in the west of Thither. But so far it's only been affecting the north of Hither here especially with you know, a couple of folk protecting the the Great Pumpkin.
Of course, talking about it, it's a large pumpkin that was. It kind of grown and keeps things alight here in this side of town or group field. What's he talking about? Yeah, he's talking to us about the great pumpkin and but I see. I'm not sure that stealing the great pumpkin is going to be as good of an idea as we thought.
Stealing? It's outlaw something? Well, Bob, the Bob. It was telling us there was a great pumpkin in this direction. And it seems as great pumpkin a lot of people are dependent on this great pumpkin We we could make a lot of enemies by stealing Eight thieves ain't gonna be one Okay Maybe stealing was the wrong word.
I used the wrong word. I did borrowing the great pumpkin you know, we can make a little kid what they're saying. He narrows his eyes at you Try to rephrase we just we just wanted to make It's just a little pumpkin pie. Didn't you say you really like pumpkin pie? No? Don't you want to try it? We're trying to determine if the barbarians But we may not do it.
Keepin more tailings away from you. Oh, barbarians yeah. Tricky little buggers. They they tend to, you know, steal things, arrive to another place of existence, and if, if you're in their crosshairs, they'll knock you out with a single trick of theirs that makes people passed out. And then of course they commit to their usual pranks of stealing things and then leaving off.
Quite slippery too. If you haven't found one already. Yeah, so he sent us away in the Great Pumpkin. Mm. He gave us the impression that we'd be able to take it with us. Oh, no. That thing? No. Nah, they're not too bright either. That thing is huge. Like I said before, it tends to light as part of the Feywild itself, ever since the Pumpkin King planted.
And you know, there's also been some weird occurrences too. A couple of Redscale folks I've never seen before started running around, but again, I haven't seen them yet. Maybe. They're catching up. They're talking about how their moms played together. Oh my god, if you don't shut your pie hole. What's he saying, Magic Matt?
Niros is visibly so frustrated because all he wants to do is get his loot and go home. Okay, instigate. You're instigating so much looting.
He's like, my whole story. I have written up. God damn it! I worked hard on this. It's just funny because he can't understand. I like how it works like that. That's funny. All right. Shut your trap. No more out of you. Sorry, I'm trying to stay quiet. Have you seen them gather in any certain area? Well, I did manage to see one.
I thought it was just another outsider pulled into the old you know, farewell once more, since we tend to get outsiders. But, one I did see, he was he was a bit in the gray scale side of things. He was collecting bones, and then once I spotted the little thing, he ran off. Last I checked, he ran off north.
That would lay the information. He mentioned that he seen the, the red scale, or skin. Yeah, it had a couple of scales on it. Maybe if we take care of some of these shifty red scaled individuals, maybe the Pumpkin King might be able to reward us? It's possible. I don't think no Pumpkin King would ever want some Scaly folk walking from, we're not messing with the pumpkin.
He tends to do things by himself. He's, he's a very powerful arch fan, and I wouldn't dare get him in your, you know, cross lines as you I don't call, don't in cross his lines. I mean, if we help investigate these red folk for him. You know, we could just offer our services. We're here anyways. And we, we, we can't get home at the moment anyways.
But you know, we could get a few little trinkets and baubles to take back when we eventually can go home. Like if he could trade us for our services. Oh, well put it like that. Yeah. So when everybody's speaking, so when she's talking to you, she's speaking in Sylvan tongue. He still can't understand it, right?
That's kind of what I figured, yeah. Anyways, I got a couple of things to take care of in this old field. I do wish you all a farewell and safe travels. Wait, wait, wait, wait, where's the Pumpkin King? Oh, you're looking for him? He's going to be, as he kind of points with his stilt, all the way over ye. You're going to have to Pass a couple of mazes.
Or at least find the right path. Left, right, center. You know. Do you at least have a unit of measurement for over yi? About that way. As he points with his stilt. Neurosize. Thank you. Ah, you're welcome. So whenever outsiders, as he stilts away with a couple of splashes here, Goes across the marsh field.
Right. After that scaled one. First, I think that maybe we should go see the Pumpkin King and get some information, at least about this local area and the scaled ones. If we do that, we're going to lose the trail of it, of this thing real fast. Yeah, but what if we're running into a complete trap? Eh, we'll go up this hill.
We don't all got shells. We don't all got shells. Hey, just stand behind me. Okay, turtle. Okay. Let something happen to me. Froggies. Well, let's ask the one with all of the education. What do you think we should do? Oh, you're taking a peek. Just like that? Because I'm a wizard. Because I'm a wizard, you think I'm smart.
Well, I sure hope so. I got my power by making a pact. I didn't have to study for a damn thing. I tend to agree with Omeg. I'm very curious to see why this red scale was spying on us. I want to see who he has ties to, or if he has something to do with the grey in the Feywild. Which is kind of why we're here.
Okay. I mean, after we gather more information, then we can approach the Pumpkin King outside. Okay. Don't gonna let it get away. Alright, well, let's keep it going. Pumpkin King that way, Red Little Bastard that way. Alright, alright. So as such, you follow once more on hopefully the last encounter that you may or may not occur.
Of which we shall see Nothing happens. As you continue onwards as such the forest itself is starting to get a little grayer, but it still has life with the green glow and the yellow fireflies flying over your heads. As we get further away from the pumpkin, it gets grayer, so does the pumpkin provide protection for that area?
Yes. Okay. As they're, as he's kind of noticing the gray coming You can say thudgering the road. Is this what he was talking about? I, I think so. It looks like it. Do I recognize this grey from anything that I've seen or may have read in my spellbook? Romi Arcana. 25. Alright. When it comes to battle, I'm done.
With your 25 and Arcana, you understand that from the rumors and the words you've heard about this great pumpkin this pumpkin almost provides a protection aura for the side of Hither to the point where if it becomes dampened or destroyed in any means. The protection spell, or almost force field of life, if you will will just shatter and things that was once lively will turn to stone and be almost inhabitant with not even the strongest of constitutions can withstand.
So the forest is stone, or is it just gray? It's, it's, it's. It's still lively, but it's kind of getting that little gray kind of growing a bit. Do, It's like an Instagram filter is almost over it, like, got it. Yeah, exactly that. So the, the great pumpkin, it provides, I'm relaying that information to everyone from what I can remember.
It's like, the great pumpkin provides a type of protection against this gray. That's changing the FadeWild I'm assuming maybe we can trace it back to its origin? See, I told you we should have gotten some information from the pumpkin can. Is there any, like, footsteps that, or like any, like, tracks left around, generally speaking?
It brought me some survival. Okay. You want to give me that d4? Heck yeah. You know, just as a, sort of, just in case. Oh, I rolled. It's all good. Yeah. But it helps. It does, because I just rolled four, so that's gonna help a lot. Let's see. What in the world? Is that two? Holy dog. Two. Great. So that's what?
That's ten. Why? Well, as you're looking on the grounds surprisingly it, it looks all, you know, almost like a mud, dry mud path, but nothing too out of the ordinary. But however, as you guys are continuing on your journey, whilst our wizard friend en en shares the lore of this supposed great pumpkin all of all of you do roll me a perception check.
I got that. Kind of
worse. Eleven. Eleven. Eleven. Well, twenty, but not Nat 20, though. Oh, Dirty 20. Dirty 20. Still, regardless. Alright. Starting with our natural 20, out of the rolls. Out of the corner of your eye, you see at least five red kobolds surrounding the area. These red, these small, red scaled looking creatures getting ready to ambush all of you.
Ah, you little Little Rascals. Rascals! Rapscallions. You little rapscallions! I knew this was gonna be a trap. Do we see them as well? Yes. I have a higher perception. I imagine I do not. Right, so as you announce, or at least share that we're surrounded and all of you look, and there are five kobolds with spears and bows and other weapons pointed towards y'all.
They're about ten feet away. So if you don't mind, I'm going to reflame one of the weapons I have on hand. This entire time, Ope has still been chewing on that, like, bit of bone that he had, like, scraped out from the eel this entire time. At one point, you guys just kind of see him, like, push forward some of the spines of that eel.
And you just see him kind of crane his neck back a little bit.
And with that that's going to be my lacrosse bow attack. Heavens to Betsy. Because I feel like that's way more in character than just an actual lacrosse bow. Okay. Wow. Alright, I didn't know we could do that. A little flair. Well, I will make, I will have that be ace. Can I, I don't think I can reckless attack that.
As much as I'd be okay with that. Yeah, no, so as you Oh, it says on your purse. When you make your first attack. Oh no. Okay, yeah, only for melee weapons of strength. Yeah, so that's, that's said. You miss as a piece of bone lands in the middle of the kobold's feet. And as Wlodum shouts at one of you.
This time in common, so you'll all understand it. You're coming with us! As these kobolds chug happily, like poking spears at you and like moving you towards a direction that you're unfamiliar with.
And as you guys are being pretty much captured by these kobolds, you guys are now looks like in this field as seen here. And you guys see this huge scythe. Pumpkin with eyes kind of carved out and a mouth almost like a, a jack o lantern of sorts. With a almost huge you know, golden wax with a light kind of dimming a little bit with the pumpkin kind of almost like, getting near a rotten color coloration.
And as you guys are there, There's like a, almost a man made altar out of like sticks and rocks and grass and vines kind of tying it around to keep it foundated. You see a black, a small black hooded figure with bones in his scaly hands. And he turns around you see what looks to be a gray cobalt looking out to the four captives and says, Ah, thus, But, our lord will be very pleased with the sacrifices for his feast.
Is he just standing there? Yes. Yeah, I just go ahead and grab him by the throat immediately. But he, oh, For context, he's about 30 feet away, while you're all still surrounded by kobolds. You're fine, you're fine. Yeah, like, it's just like, poking, like, you know, almost like a hard knock as it keeps poking at him.
But, as said this black hooded kobold figure. Raises his hands up with two bones in his clutches, and says bring out our lord and savior. Bring him out to feast for his sacrifice. And out from the forest. And also gonna set up your dudes. As we're gonna get into our first bit of combat. I'll say you guys are probably in Yeah.
And then the five kobolds. That's, we know that's Ope. It's so obvious, yeah. Who gave it away? The beautifully bald head. The most beautifully bald head. I do like that bald head.
Gonna get more kobolds in the future. Last chance for you to walk away. Be ashamed if I had to rip out each of your eyeballs and make you eat them. Don't make me call my magical sugar daddy. And out from the mist of the Feywild South, a large, green hulking, thin haired, pointed teeth pointed ears with a glove masked with mushrooms and hard oak.
You see this hooded kobold who later we find out is a warlock. His patron being no other than this troll. Son of a bitch. Skit. Skit. Man, we're about to get some Eldritch Blast on Eldritch Blast. I know. Magic Missile. Oh, Magic Missile's great though. I don't have that one. Oh, it's okay, Magic Missile's, well like, you have Eldritch Blast.
Yeah, I have that one. That's a better version of it. And as this troll walks up to ya fortunately he speaks Chiant. I don't believe, last I checked, none of you speak Chiant. Nope, not, not even a little bit, no. As he kinda talks to himself and then chuckles as he gots his club and tells all his followers to, well, at least to not your understanding to attack.
And thus, roll initiative.
