Today on Vet Life Reimagined, we have Dr. Serena Nayee. Inspired by the challenges she experienced in vet school, she founded a non-profit called Chapter VIII focused on providing support for marginalized pet parents and veterinary professionals.

Serena will talk about intersectionality, community, mutual respect, and belonging. Serena lives out her interest in public health in a unique way. No matter where you are in your veterinary journey, Serena will share actionable tips on how you can get involved even if you take one of these tips, it will make an impact.

Chapter VIII is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 2020 to foster a representative environment and highlight the intersectional marginalized experience within the veterinary profession through advocacy, art, accountability, and accessibility. Chapter VIII creates opportunities for access to care and education at the intersection of marginalized pet parents and veterinary professional communities. The organization aims to reach people who belong to multiple underrepresented or marginalized groups based on race, ethnicity, disability, class, gender, and sex.
