Hey, what's up everybody? Dougie P here. I hope you guys enjoyed the first part of the interview with Sue that dropped yesterday, our first interview. It was a lot of fun to sit down with Travis and catch up with him. Haven't talked to him in a few years that long so it was good to hear he's doing a lot of good things out on the outside.
Speaker 1: 0:16Now Part two of that interview is going to drop here next week same time, and you can expect a new episode every Wednesday, obviously workload permitting for me on the outside here doing the Navy thing. So I wanted to take a minute and reflect on that previous episode. I'm going to try to do the same thing for every episode that comes out here. After that I'm going to call these five minute pattern corrections For those of you not savvy on aviation and flying. Basically we do a lot of touch and goes, that's doing a lot of landings in one consecutive amount of time. So basically think a giant race track. We take our time and we critique our landing, what we could have done better, what we could have done better, what we did good and how to improve on it, because there's always room for improvement. So for the first part. I'm going to kind of talk about just some of the things I'd like to improve on, because obviously this is just a side hustle for me. So I want to have fun with it, but I want to do good with it and I also want to deliver and produce and give you guys a good quality product. So lessons learned from me number one I'm going to definitely try to reduce the amount of F bombs I use and try to reduce those in the broadcast. Obviously, I don't care if the guests use them, that's fine, it doesn't really matter, and I'm probably going to let one or two slip. I'm not going to lie to you, but going back and editing those and bleeping those out is a real pain in the butt. So I'm going to try to tone down on those and honestly, try to tone down on those in real life too.
Speaker 1: 1:46The second thing I'd like to start working on and do a little bit better is the audio quality and editing. Once again, this is a side hustle, so I'm learning how to use audio editing software as I go and I don't have a virtual assistant to do this for me. So bear with me, give me some grace. It'll get better as it goes along just like any other sort of reps and sets, I promise. Third, apparently I have a stutter. I've gotten 41 years in my life without realizing that I talk on the radio quite a bit in my professional career and never once really occurred to me until listening to myself multiple times on a recording. So that's going to be something I'm going to work on. I think that's just going to come down to being more deliberate on what I want to say and what I want to say it and not ramble. So those are things I want to work on.
Speaker 1: 2:35A couple of things I want to reflect on in the episode. Me and Travis talked a lot about, I guess, some cultural problems in episode one and how it's becoming a prevalent problem in some of the experiences we had but didn't really give a solution. So I want to say wrong of me, we definitely need to work on that. I was always brought up that if you're going to present a problem, make sure you have a solution with it too, or at least a path forward. So something I'm going to reflect on, especially with what we talked about with the culture piece, and I will say I challenge everybody here and please leave a response down below on Facebook or on the socials on your thoughts about this.
Speaker 1: 3:15But how do you feel about the culture of your organization, be it civilian or military? You don't have to name names, just you know. If you want to leave a blurb, let me know. But just remember that we can all be the catalyst of change. If you don't like the culture, it's a tough thing to do and I know it's definitely easier said than done. But I challenge everybody that if you don't like the situation you're in or you don't like the culture you're in, be that catalyst. Start from score one and figure out how you can change it for the better. And then, second, we talked about just some of our experiences we both had in flight school and some of the difficulties we both endured. And I would say, always work hard to keep yourself in the position where either your organization needs you and not the other way around, because that's how doors to opportunities stay open. When you keep yourself a viable resource, be it what you feel about the culture, it will allow you to make those decisions later on, whether you want to stay, go or gives you that influential voice towards changing that culture.
Speaker 1: 4:25But yeah, all in all, it was a lot of fun. The next episode, like I said, we'll drop next week. We had a lot more fun and we definitely got into a little more discussions there and start talking about a lot more meat and potatoes in terms of airline interviews and hiring.
